Another great show - each year I don't think Phil's sound can get any better - but it does! He had such a delicate touch on Stardust and Breeze and I. I didn't see the AC15 though, has he abandoned it for the AC30?

I thought the Jet tribute was well put together and performed by all concerned and I had a nice chat with Alan Jones about his part in it. He's such a nice chap and still the best bassist on the day as far as I'm concerned, playing with consummate ease and brilliance.

As far as Warren's set goes I enjoyed the variation and was especially impressed with Blue Rondo a la Turk. I was a bit disappointed that the Shadows numbers sounded a bit mechanical due to them being read and maybe just one more rehearsal might have helped; Mo certainly got lost at the end of Raggy Tramline.

Great to see Bruce looking so well.

I can only echo the other posts. On behalf of all the Geordie gang who were there, this was indeed another fantastic weekend. Sound was superb and the Tribute to Jet was certainly special.
Thanks Bruce for all your hard work and dedication in putting this show together. Long may it continue.

Cheers Tommy

MdL wrote:I really enjoyed this Shadowmania. I have attended all but one (and played myself at three) Shadowmania's. Reading all reviews I must have been the only one who feels insulted with the renditions of Shadows hits by Warren and Friends. I thought they were joking with 'Theme for young lovers' but was definitely not amused when it was going on with the other Shadows titles. The young ones in the young ones competitions many years ago did so much better :-( Otherwise I really enjoyed myself!

Martin.

Not the only one by any means, Martin. In fact, I think you may have been a little too kind, but I've noticed over the years that objective reviews of ShadowMania performances seem to get lost in the warm glow of nostalgia...

I just keep shtum these days... 8-)

I also want to thank Bruce for the absolutely brilliant weekend at Shadowmania! I'm glad I'm not alone in what I said, it was the first time that Bruce really connected totally as a person and a brilliant musician. Bruce, you really made us feel part of it all and not just spectators, thank you!
I would also like to thank Katie and Roy for their kind hospitality on the Friday night and for giving me the opportunity to play my original, Song For Jet (Wish You Were Here) with Steve Valentine on lead and myself on baritone (Fender Precision). As usual, the evening was excellent and I really enjoyed listening to a host of new players.
Thankyou all for a super weekend, the best I've had the honour of attending!
Cheers. CC

I Just wanted to thank Bruce and all the wonderful guitarists and friends for a brilliant weekend at pre-shadowmania and shadowmania. This was the fifth time that my wife and I went to Shadowmania and the first time at pre-shadowmania.

We just didn't want the weekend to end, it was truly wonderful and we met so many lovely people, including Nicky from Dublin, Roy from Croydon and Barry from the South Coast Shadows the latter i had the pleasure to chat to at pre-Shadowmania. Barry played superbly on Saturday morning, which included Atlantis, one of my all-time favourites. Theo and Roger from the Netherlands were on our table Friday night and Theo particluarly was hillarious.

There were so many gems, Phil Kelly playing Stardust superbly, the Rapiers and Foottappers were awesome and the moving tribute to Jet with the Rapiers, Bruce and Daniel from the Foottappers.

It was great too to see Bruce looking so well, and I loved hearing The Savage again, played superbly.

We are all a great family bonded by our love of this great music, the happiest and best event of our year which we look forward to so much.
