Ah! I know that several people helped by selling tickets (thanks to you all). I was part of the team tearing out ticket stubs, folding them and putting them into the 'drum'. I only saw green, pink and mauve tickets....but there were a couple of spells when I was temporarily 'absent' - so there may have been a book of white tickets that I never saw personally. Anyway.....the winning ticket (for Jet's guitar) was mauve 538 & the person concerned (who had the mauve ticket) - was convinced that it was white. A fantastic amount of money was raised for the Jet Harris Memorial Fund - but there were also some donations - still to be checked through. I'm going to leave any 'official' announcements etc., etc. to Janet and Audrey. Once again thanks to everyone for their support and generosity and thanks to Bruce for facilitating the raffle at Shadowmania.

Rob :)

Wow! Whoever decided to place the link to www.jetharrismemorialfund.org right at the head of Shadowmusic itself - thank you very much indeed. I believe that Audrey will shortly have the definitive figure for the total amount of money raised at Shadowmania - so I'm going to leave any official pronouncement to her. Let's just say that it was....well, fantastic!! Thank you so much for your support, encouragement and generosity. It was an emotionally draining experience for Janet Hemingway - but she (IMHO) coped magnificently. The occasion was a huge step forward for her. I'm sure that she'll want to add her own comments in due course.

Meanwhile (refs previous post) - Steve there were definitely no white tickets. I cleared out the tombola drum today. Green, pink, mauve - those were the three colours. I told you those lights played tricks!!! I shall never forget some years ago being involved in something similar at Reading's Hexagon theatre (an event to do with Roy Castle's charity). We arranged for our musical director and and distinguished guest Bernard Keeffe ('Google' him) to draw the raffle. It transpired that they were both colour blind!!!! Boy, did that cause some problems - believe me!!!!

Hi Rob

Thats great news regarding the fund bet Jet would have been very proud of the effort from everyone involved.

Are any of the prizes unclaimed currently? I dont think mine numbers came up (i had 400 - 420 i think) but if me and someone else had the issue believing they were white then someone else may have also.

Thanks

Hi Steve,
All of the prizes were successfully claimed. My wife (although she wasn't there) - ever thorough (and probably recalling the Reading Hexagon fiasco herself) - reminded me to check what the different colours looked like under artificial / coloured lights and also to make sure that whoever drew the tickets out wasn't colour blind!!! Barry Gibson did seem puzzled when I asked him!!!LOL You see - it's amazing all of the things you have to consider when tackling an apparently straightforward activity such as that. A lot of work behind the scenes by a dedicated group of people - but the end result (thanks to all of you who supported the event) was well worth it.

Hi Everyone,

Rob - I'm ahead of you!!! I called David Martin to ask who to thank for putting the logo and the link to the JHMF on the homepage. Thank you Bob!! It is very much appreciated.

I can now tell you that the raffle at Shadowmania raised a fantastic £2040 on behalf of the Jet Harris Memorial Fund!! A brilliant amount!! Thank you all so much!

We also collected an additional £26.03 in the collecting box on the table ... so, the total amount raised was £2066.03!!

Also, Pat and John at Leo's Den are donating £10 from every copy of the CD Jet Harris - "That Reminds Me ..." sold at Shadowmania. So the total amount raised for the Fund will be a little higher. Thank you to everyone who has supported us!

I called Janet tonight to tell her the good news. Janet has asked me to say that she is delighted to hear how much was raised for the Fund in memory of Jet and she has asked me to thank everyone who bought tickets and helped to make the event such a success.

We'll post more news soon! In the meantime, many, many thanks to you all!!

Best wishes,
Audrey

Hi again,

Here is a pic of the winner of the 1st Prize in the raffle being presented with the Burns Marquee 6 guitar by Barry Gibson and Janet Hemingway. I'm so sorry but, in the rush at the end of the evening, we didn't manage to get the name of the person who won this great prize. If anyone knows the person's name please can you tell us! Many thanks.

Hi Sheila,
I put it in the gallery, so you should be able to see the pic if you've logged in, but I've posted it again below as an attachment.
Best wishes
Audrey
