What are you recording with John ?
I use Audition and you can hear the effects you use while you record live.

Ah, Eric's given a post as I was typing.

I know what you mean John by playing dry. Playing through an amp and say a Zoom you are able to get an audible feel for the way you're playing. I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that--I am able to play dry and rectify any mistakes to the dry recording within my editor (Sound Forge).

If you listen to the Apache tut clip I put up on You Tube, you can hear that after the first 2 bars of the intro there's a slight gap before the repeat. All I need to do is delete a few milliseconds and bring the two phrases together. Actualy I made a mess of the second intro phase and carried on. I highlighted it, deleted it and copied and pasted the first intro lick as in essence it's a repeat of the first lick. Couldn't do that if it had been processed through outboard hardware. The error would have an echo tail.

As I mentioned earlier, hardwear has it's place for gigging and practice but for me I need the virtual world for other stuff I do.

Oh dear me once you start you can't stop.

I'm not suggesting this product unless you're running a studio and have brass in pocket. You do get a free trial d/load and for Tony it's compatible with RTAS

Hi John, Audition 1.5 doesn't do live effects, only version 3.

I'm sure Eric's right although I use Sony's Sound Forge so I don't know. If you shove the eTAP's .dll into your VST folder in programe files (that's all your PC needs) and get your programe to search for 'all 'vst' it should load. That's how I do it in S/F. Refresh the editors VST list is what you're doing.

Look at this site, it's one where I get loads of stuff. This is the VST Amp section.

Also a few of us Eric, Me, Piet Korving, Bojan and a few others) have the PSP 608 vst echo which is full of stuff--Piet of Echotapper has a list of presets for loading into the preset bank especially for Shad stuff--check it out. However it's not free.

John, I sent you a PM.
PSP608 is the dogs but the echotapper software doesn't work in Audition.
I had to leave the trials some years back because of it.
It works fine in everything else though, I have Cubase 5 ( don't like it, don't much use it ) and it's Ok in that.
