Just listened to the programme, well presented, several top names including Jimmy Page, Mark Knopfler talking about Hank and The Shads and of course Cliff and Hank himself who sounded most humble.
Good programme worth a listen.

Thanks so much for the heads-up, Alan. That was so well done. I had tears in my eyes and goosebumps all over for 30 minutes straight.

Hopefully BBC will post it somewhere for streaming on demand.

Hank and the Shadows have been one of thee greatest passions of my life for exactly 30 years now (not nearly as long as for many of you here - but I'm only 42!) - and I fully suspect they'll remain that way for the next 30. Long live the Shads!!!

Ivan I totally agree, I remember buying Apache as a 12 year old and played it till I wore it out.

Couldn't agree more. Really good piece and Hank would never have imagined when he was in the 2i's cellar that he would have a radio 4 programme dedicated to him, 53 years later!!
