We might not get the scams here but we do get automated cold callers at 2am!! (which is supposed to be illegal!)

Whilst I have not had the calls from "Microsoft" yet, I used to get calls ( cold and otherwise ), from every mother's son
about all sorts of things.
I found the answer to this is an answering machine / call blocker called True Call. http://www.truecall.co.uk/
The machine is simplicity itself to use and, following almost twelve months of use, I can testify to it's effectiveness.
( In the United Kingdom at any rate, I'm not sure about our friends in France etc. ).
It's many advantages are explained onsite so I'll not go into any great detail here about it.

I have no connection whatsoever with the manufacturers, I'm just a very satisfied customer with a product that
does what it says on the tin.

Yours, peacefully,

Alan.

Depending on your tele provider you might have the facility to BAR calls from certain numbers which is very useful in combatting these types of calls and also sometimes pretend to show interest and then place phone on side so they talk to themselves after a while.

Roger, that's exactly what I do. I just put the receiver to one side and let whoever blather away into the ether. Occasionally I may pick it up and, if it is not a recorded message and they are still going I will interupt with "oh, you're still there are you?" and put the receiver down again.

Hi Alan,

I have not heard of a similar device available in France, but most of our telephone providers offer the same kind of service.
