Netbooks for recording?

Hi All

are netbooks any good for recording, I know I'll probably need an external hard drive to load Cubebase or whatever.

Looking at the spec they all seem higher than my PC and existing laptops.

Also for loading via SD or whatever, and playing backing tracks they look small enough to fit into a gig bag.

I'm using a Zoom R8 for recording mostly so probably would only use Cubebase fro midi files.

I accept that a top line Apple would be the best, but for the number of backing tracks I'm looking to produce the cost is way too high.
