just to let everybody know dave harrison (drummer) has just completed his first knee replacement hes doing fine the consultant surgeon was a guitar player so he is eager to get dave back on his feet. that is in his spare time by the way and not in the operating theatre.He is still in hospital but hoping to be back home in 2 or 3 days time if can stop going dizzy and fainting.thanks for all your telephone calls and get well messages he has received will keep you informed. love to all our friends in the shadows community Carol xxxxx

Is that the same Dave Harrison who was drummer for the Fentone IV a few years ago?

If so, here's a nice little story.
Both the Fentone IV and The Secrets were playing Tilburg in 2005, with The Secrets doing the just-after-lunch spot. Martin Verrill from Legend was drumming for us (Dave B. couldn't make it) but he was flying in to Brussels that morning and got delayed (the rest of us had come over by car a day earlier).

By 11am things were looking sticky, so we asked Dave Harrison if he would run through our set with us in case Martin didn't make it. The Secrets' set tends to be (in the words of George Geddes) "esoteric" (*see Secrets Rules 1,2 and 3) but Dave managed it with aplomb. In the event, Martin arrived in the nick of time, but we'll always be grateful to Dave.

I'm glad he is getting better.

Pleased to hear that Dave is "heading in the right direction" again - I was quite upset when we met at the last Hull meeting, seeing him in such obvious difficulties - give him my very best wishes, and as our Kid says "don't hit the physio!". Our Mum had new knees a while ago, and the physio seems to be the key to a full recovery.

That's a good point Paul. The degree of success depends a lot on sticking religiously to the exercises - no matter how much it may hurt!

Unfortunately, our Mum didn't (She's 93 next weekend - and very "independent") and chose to ignore some of the physio's advice, so didn't really reap the full benefit of the Ops!
In my own case, my left shoulder was playing-up a while ago, resulting in surgery. Again, the physio was key, although quite painful, but not being as "independent" as my Mum, I persevered and regained about 95% of shoulder function, so I got back to banging the drums again!

Stick with it, Dave!!
