I sang with the band later (with Ian McCutcheon playing lead in place of your good self) and agree that they sound really good. It really makes a difference to be surrounded by such talented musicians who share the love for the music. I've grown up listening to Cliff and the Shads stuff and to me it was almost as good as having the Shads behind me as I vocally murdered two classics!
I also wanted to say that I was blown away with your playing- either you missed twenty years off your age or you have been playing since you was 6 months old. I'm currently looking for a river to throw my guitar in after hearing you- you heard me so you will know why!!
I enjoyed your versions with the band- you clearly enjoyed it too and started to relax. Playing with the band seemed to give you something extra compared to you playing with the backing track. When you started 'Man of Mystery' you certainly made me sit up! Nice to see some of the classic Shads tracks being played by people who are not even teenagers yet. The magic Shads music and sound will never die as there are still youngsters getting interested in it and wanting to play it too.
Forget all this 'drum'n'bass' stuff- come to the 'dark side' and share that obvious talent you have with us all again at the next meeting on Feb 5th- you know you want. Well done again on your playing.
