Surrey Shadows Club 4th Birthday Bash

What a fabulous celebration it was at Hersham yesterday.

A big thank you to Bruce, Bob and Mike who organised an extended club session that started at 3pm - and to Bob, Charlotte and the other ladies (whose names I'm afraid I don't know) for arranging the fish & chip supper complete with home-made apple pie. The place was packed with the attendance nearing 200 and about 20 players joining house band The Silver Shadows to provide some excellent music. A party of special guests joined us from France including Shotgun Ltd (aka Spotnicks tribute act Apollo 11) who also performed two fine sets. Didier Parot was taking notes so hopefully he will be able to provide a more detailed report, but meanwhile I just wanted to say THANKS for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to keep Surrey and all the other Shads clubs going strong.

I am just back home from the Surrey Shadows Club meeting. All of the French people who came are very grateful for the way we have been welcomed there.
It was nice to meet people known from this site.
All our thanks to the organisers, the attendance, the perfomers, not forgetting all the people who gave a hand for the organisation.
This was the first visit from French Shadows' fans to a Club meeting in the UK, and no doubt it will not be the last !
We have been taking videos from this event, and once edited (which will take some time) we'll show you some.

Thank you Alan, Didier & Roger for your kind words, which has been very well received by everyone involved in making this major event such a success.

Over the past four years we have had the pleasure of welcoming visiting players & bands from othe UK Clubs, Australia, Spain, Italy and now we can add France. We are always delighted to make everyone feel most welcome at Surrey Shadows Club to enjoy the Shadows Music, which we all love.

We've been really pleased to join for the first time the Surrey Shadows Club, and as I told during the event, it was the very first "twinning act" ... we were waiting for 52 years !!!
We all thank all the people who welcomed us so kindly, making us discovering " Fish & Chips " and other british recipes ... but particularly great musicians and a famous band " The Silver Shadows ".
From April, when Bob & team went to France until last friday, we established a very great relationship, with the wonderful goal : to share together our favourite music.
The team of Shadowmaniacs is very proud to have done it, because it has never been done before in France.

So let spend our partneship in a very quiet and friendly "touch" and with a "British phlegm and humour ... and once again thanks Bob and team for your kindness.
We are now preparing our meeting next april 13/14 &15 and will be very happy to receive all of us who want to share sincerely our passion.

If you have been following this thread, you will know that a degree of controversy has arisen as a result of differences between groups of French fans and players. I have removed all traces of this interchange because this site is about music and harmony - not disagreement. I hope that all members will understand the reasons for my intervention. I have now locked the topic....
