I hope this isn't true! There are a lot of people who haven't the knowledge or ablity to use a computer so they will have to suffer.
It has taken me years to build up my collection of CDs :(

Don't worry, vinyls are coming back, they are more and more popular ! ;)

Hi all.
Last year a very high end hi-fi mag, turntables at £25,000, cartridge/stylus £7,000, arm for turntable £5,000. did an article on vinyl sales for Europe and the UK. Fig for 2010 in the UK showed 234,000 vinyl units sold, a large increase in sales over the past ten years. (91.6 million sold in 1976). It then went on to say that in 2010 UK CD sales were up to 119.9 million. It's true that some wellknown hi-fi manufacturer's have stoped production of CD players. I dont think the CD will vanish overnight.
Regards Geoff.; a 99.9% vinyl man.

Judging from the pic above, Didier is using either "Cool Edit Pro" or the newer version of it: "Adobe Audition".

Right Jim !
I am using Adobe Audition 1.5, but it would work the same with most audio softwares (such as the Audacity freeware).
I took this picture when digitalising the recentyl issued 10" vinyl from Cliff & the Drifters. The turntable was linked to the laptop PC using a Behringer UFO202 phono-USB interface (which works very well) : http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UFO202.aspx

Now I have put back this old Thorens TD150 turntable (with Shure magnetic M75.6 cartridge) with my Hi-Fi chain, so when I now digitalise vinyls, I do it through the Hi-Fi amp, using the earphone output. But I am still using the Behringer interface, as my laptop PC doesn't have an audio line input (my main desktop PC is in another room).

I copied the same album to CD via Audacity.

Hi all.
Just a quick note to say that the BBC Radio 6 are having a vinyl only day on Jan 1st. Never listened to Radio 6 but will give it a listen on new years day.
Happy new year to all.
Regards Geoff.
