"Maggie's Samba" on BBC TV 1968/1969

Postby iefje » 09 Jan 2012, 11:32

I have heard a BBC (TV?) live recording of The Shadows' "Maggie's Samba". I was wondering about the recording and/or broadcast date and if it is a performance by The Shadows or by Hank Marvin. Does anyone know? Also, does anyone know when Hank's live performance of "One Note Samba" was recorded?

According to your own posting (last year!):

42. Maggie's Samba (live '68). 31-01-1970, It's Cliff Richard

Not sure what "live '68" means. I'd have put good money on the Hank Marvin solo live version not having being performed / broadcast until early 1970 at least (because The Shadows were still available as an entity before then).

The date "31-01-1970" in my earlier posting refers to the next two tracks 43 and 44. I always assumed it was maybe recorded live during the Autumn show of 1968. I mentioned this in the sentence preceding the listing of track 42.
