"Cliff meets The Shadows" 3 CD set

Postby Tony Szpala » 19 Jan 2012, 01:30

I picked up a "Cliff meets The Shadows" 3 CD set (75 recordings) from my local Sainsbury's this evening at a cost of £3-00!
All early stuff - late 50's & early 60's. In essence:

a. 17 Shadows Instrumentals
b. 35 Cliff & Shadows
c. 23 Cliff only

Best wishes

Interesting.

At present, how many Shadows/Drifters instrumentals (or vocal tracks) are out of copyright?

It would be:

Singles:
Don't Be a Fool With Love / Feelin' Fine (both vocal)
Jet Black / Driftin'
Saturday Dance / Lonesome Fella
Apache /Quatermasster's Stores
The Stranger / Man Of Mystery

EPs:
Jet Black (live)
Driftin' (live)
Be Bop A Lula (live)
Chinchilla
Bongo Blues

That's only fifteen tracks unless you include the Chesternuts single.

Would the "Mustang" EP the FBI single yet be out of copyright? Only if published before the 18th Jan 1961...

Shouldn't it be before the 19th of January 1962, because everything before that date is fifty years of age or older?

Quite right, lefje! I put the error down to advancing age!

So we could add the "Mustang" EP, the singles FBI/Midnight, The Frightened City/Back Home, Kon-Tiki/36-24-36 and The Savage/Peace Pipe. Give a it a few weeks and tou could add Wonderful land/Stars Fell On Stockton.

Then after adding the contents of the first LP, there are a total of 31 instrumental tracks (not including live versions) and eight vocals (including Be Bop A Lula).
