Change Of Address out soon on CD

Just had confirmation from Leo's Den that Change Of Address to be released on CD on the Talking Elephant label sometime March/April time.

Do you know if its a straight copy of the vinyl album or will there be any bonus tracks (b-sides or live stuff?).

Thank you very much for the tip about the CD release of Change of Address. I can hardly wait. This is one of the few Shadows albums that I couldn't find anywhere, other than maybe a used copy of the vinyl LP, which I didn't have the equipment or patience for. The other one I want is Cliff Goes East. I have the Cliff Live in Japan one, which has part of the same concert...but they left out the whole Shadows set of songs except for Backscratcher.

I am purposely boycotting the majority of the re-released stuff that falls outside the 50-year copyright issue...unless they come up with material that I don't already have, then maybe I'll make an exception.

Ever order anything from the non-English language websites of amazon.com? I did that a few times, to get certain Shadows albums. The order was not only in a foreign currency, but in a foreign language. It was kind of funny, answering Yes or OK to questions that I couldn't understand.

The Cliff Goes East LP, which I have... the Shadows as such are not on it. It's basically Marvin and Farrar... featuring a drummer called Brian Bennett and a bass player whose names escape me. Dave Richmond? Also, Alan Hawkshaw is on piano.
It opens with 'Flingel Bunt'... the only other Shads number on it, from memory... is 'Apache'. Actually... here is the track listing for the 'Marvin and Farrar' set... (I've found the LP amidst the chaos of my home! )....

Dear Steve: Thank you for the info on the Cliff Goes East album. Maybe that's John Farrar I hear on Backscratcher, with the wah wah pedal? If not, it's Hank...doesn't matter, but it's a cool song. This album is interesting to me because of all the people involved. You mentioned most of the people in the band (some of which I didn't know were there), plus I can hear Olivia Newton-John on background vocals and probably Pat Carroll (Mrs John Farrar) is with her. Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it.

I bought the vinyl LP second hand in end 2010 and digitalised it.
Of course, no "bonus" track !

Looks like it was Alan Tarney, atlthough some people think it was John Rostill. I have both the original Asian double LP release and the later UK single (shortened) LP release but there is no mention of the bassist name on the covers.

Hi all,
the Cliff Goes East 2LP set was not the original release. The set was first issued in Japan as CLIFF "LIVE" IN JAPAN '72 (EOP-93077B), recorded on 22nd and 23rd September, 1972.

On the back of the sleeve the sides A, B and C are credited to Cliff Richard, side D is credited to MARVIN & FARRAR "LIVE" IN JAPAN '72. On the sleeve only JOHN FARRAR/HANK MARVIN (Guitar) BRIAN BENNETT (drums) PAT CAROL/OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN (Back chorus) are listed.

However, a stage photo (see below) give some more information (left to right): Hank Marvin - John Farrar - (Cliff) - Brian Bennett - Trevor Spencer (?) - Alan Tarney - Olivia Newton-John - Pat Carroll - Alan Hawkshaw. This is certainly the backing for the Cliff part of the concerts.

On the labels of the records the are the following details:
Side A, B and C: Cliff Richard, Olivia Newton John (Back Chorus), Pat Carol (Back chorus), Hank Marvin (Lead Guitar), John Farrar (Bass Guitar), Brian Bennett (Drums)
Side D: Hank Marvin (Lead Guitar), John Farrar (Bass Guitar), Brian Bennett (Drums)

Much more interesting is that the Marvin & Farrar set includes two more songs on the Japanese release which are omitted on all the other releases: Something and Keep The Customer Satisfied. To my knowledge these two tracks can only be found apart from the above vinyl release on the Italian Fremus CD DAKOTA (1994, CDFR 0520).
