John Beecher: RollerCoaster (Shadows at the Beeb)

Postby Arpeggio » 19 Feb 2012, 10:14

Just thought that I'd start a new thread here in view of John's comments re: unissued BBC material. Obviously he regularly reads these forums. John is 100% committed to his music. RollerCoaster (as we all know) always puts out top class product. John is meticulous in his preparation for any release and nothing but the best (quality, packaging, presentation etc) will do for him, as he wants to give music fans / collectors the very best product he can. So, I guess that he knows just how desperate fans are to hear those priceless BBC performances from the Shadows. Were it not for the late Bernie Andrews (& now John of course) - most of the tracks in his possession would have been lost forever. A few do exist as reasonable quality 'air checks' - but nothing can compare to the quality & sound of the tracks originally preserved by Bernie Andrews. My post was borne out of years and years of frustration. Years of trials and tribulations & a not inconsiderable amount of personal time, effort & trouble spent on the project. That said, it was never my intention to get John bogged down in replying to hundreds or thousands of emails about The Shadows at the BBC. After all, RollerCoaster isn't the BBC or EMI with hundreds of staff including PR presonnel, A&R men, publicity departments, licensing experts, personal secretaries etc., etc. So John doesn't have endless amounts of spare time to field huge volumes of enquiries. So please ignore my request to 'bombard' (not that i actually used that word) John / RollerCoaster for information about the Shadows at the BBC. Let's just hope that, out of his many ongoing projects, that he might make The Shadows / BBC one of his current top priorities. Thanks John. Thanks everyone.

Good one Rob, I am in full agreement with your sentiments, but patience was never one of my virtues! :)

It doesn't appear to be one of Rob's either. ;)

Alan! How could you!? :o LOL  My dear fellow....I think that 'waiting' for over 10 years shows a fair degree of patience. :D Another 10 years & I could be dead!! Of course - i very much hope that I will still be around & listening to those great live tracks from the Shads at the Beeb.

Bests Rob :D
