Anybody in the Brighton area?

Postby skye » 25 Oct 2009, 09:40

Hope this is the right section to put this in. Is there anybody in the Brighton, Lewes, Newhaven area who would like to meet up. I seem to be in the middle of either the Kent club or the Solent club.

I have been playing Shad stuff for about a year now so I am a novice, although I have played keyboard in bands for many years.

Having now reached 60, my aim is to focus on Shadows music with others in this area and maybe form a club.

If you are interested in meeting up contact me, you can send me a personal message, I dont have a mobile at the moment.

Hi Ray,

I'm in Plumpton - you're right we are a bit betwixt and between, although I do get to the Solent Club and the Surrey Club quite regularly. Please get in touch.

Ray,

I am also just outside Brighton being based in Hassocks. Funnily enough I met up with Terry (see previous reply) yesterday afternoon having not seen each other for about five years. I used to play lead in The Shudders - a Sussex based Shadows tribute band from 1981 to 1987. I am also now 60 and still pull a band together once or twice a year for private functions as my brother is a drummer, based in Seaford, who was also in the Shudders.

Sounds like there's a Band - or even a Club - in there somewhere!
Good luck - pity I'm too far "oop North" to be involved, but it sounds like you'll have a Drummer anyway.

I live in Telscombe Cliffs, and play lead with a Brighton based Shadows tribute which I've just found out, unfortunately shares a name with Ian McCutcheon's band, Shazam! Hopefully, we're far enough apart for it to not cause problems.

We've been together about two and a half years, and have only managed to do three gigs in that time! We're all busy with other things which seems to stop us from all being in the same place at the same time, but we would like to do more. Our last gig was athe Drill Hall in Horsham on 17th October in aid of All Saint's Church, Roffey, and we try to go out for fundraisers for good causes. If anyones's interested, we're at the Meridian Centre Community Hall in Peacehaven on the 27th March to raise funds for a local theatre group, Peacehaven Players. I'll put a post up nearer the time with details.

In the meantime, one or more of us would welcome the chance to play some Shads stuff a bit more frequently.

Why don't you come and get us? We'll buy you a packet of crisps and a Pepsi.

Hope to see you there on the 15th.

Kind regards,
