Hi All , I've been told this is good software for recording (£40) online , any views ?

You might do better to use software that most others use Keith, you can always ask then.
I doubt if anyone uses this Mixcraft however good it might be.
Cakewalk, Sonar, Cubase etc.
I use Adobe Audition. always have.

I found out about Mixcraft a while back either through this site, Charlie Hall's or the Perth site, where at the time there was a thread about this software; and it seemed there were quite a few members already using it and singing it's praises.
I've been using Sonar in it's various progressions since the Pro Audio 8 days, also Cool Edit (now Adobe) and other fairly high end pieces of software. All really good. However Mixcraft really isn't very far behind the much more expensive stuff in terms of versitility, ease of use, plug ins etc. (One of the things I use is Kontakt Komplete 6 which actually works better with Mixcraft than with Sonar.)
If you're looking for real studio quality, then you'll have to pay the going price for it, but if you're looking for excellent home studio standards then I highly reccomend Mixcraft. It also comes very well packaged with plug ins etc. And though I've never had to use them, I understand their level of support is very good.
No, I don't work for them or know anybody who does, I'm just an enthusiastic and satisfied user!

What's wrong with Audacity Keith ?

Hi Ecc, just trying to find the best/easiest for my limited talents, with Audacity will i need mic/monitors etc ?

It looks a good piece of kit for the money and similar in some ways to Logic that I now use on the Mac. You do need to understand and be prepared to put the time in though, no fast-tracking here.

Audacity will be just about the most straightforward and simplest software you're going to get Keith and without wishing to risk the wrath of the mysterious managerial message deleter again is ideally suited to you at the moment whereby you haven't done much previous recording.i.e. dishwasher syndrome.
You will need a microphone of some description to get the sound into the computer obviously, this will apply to any software you choose and if you haven't already , you will need some manner of getting microphone into computer, USB interface or mixer or both.
You don't necessarily need speakers, you can use headphones but it would be nice to listen to what you've done at a decent volume and also for other people to listen to your masterpiece, again, this will apply to any software you buy.
