On A Little Bitty Tear, there is definitely a certain amount of (instrumental, but not necessarily vocal) miming going on. Well, either that or someone has discovered a way of making solid guitars sound like Gibson acoustics - and a bass be heard at all - without even plugging them in. Still, nice video. Any idea of its source?

The second piece (Last Train To Clarksville) looks as though it might have come from Japanese television, but what I find interesting (in this undoubtedly mimed performance) is that Hank was still using a wound third string - this in late 1967 or slightly later.

I think you should have another listen Jim. A Little Bitty Tear is live and the Burn's lead breaks, sound nothing like a Gibson acoustic. This is a live show from Luik 1964 (I think) which was shown on TV, The Shads did the first half and were joined by Cliff in the second half. There is much better quality footage available where guitar cables and mic's in front of amps are visable. You can see the mic in front of Johns amp when he walks away to the right.

Last Train To Clarksville was one of a number of pieces (mimed) which appeared on Australian Bandstand in 1967/68, again much better quality copies exist.

I am most surprised that you seem to have neither of these shows.

Well, now I know why people can't agree on 'that sound' , there is no way that Hank's playing in ALBT is acoustic and I suggest you have a good listen again ............... pleaseeeeeeeeeee.

Disagree. Sounds like an original Burns Marvin on middle pickup to me - I've used Marvins playing rythm since 1964 and that obtained that sound many times. It's not a Strat.
