Ah, at last ;) . I have this complete concert (both halves) on dvd and there is no doubt that a) it is live and b) there are no acoustic guitars played. I doubt very much if the technology was in place to have an acoustic backin' track played along with the live set, so I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

It's a hard call.
The sound is just too good.
Yes. Hank's lead break is authentic but it then shows a different quality to the rest of it, the acoustics of the auditorium becoming apparent.
Sounds like acoustic rhythm to me.

Disagree. Sounds like an original Burns Marvin on middle pickup to me - I've used Marvins playing rythm since 1964 and that obtained that sound many times. It's not a Strat. ;)

Interesting debate, this! Certainly, Bruce's hand movement is out of sync with the actual rhythm sound, but that may be another issue altogether... do we know of any other instances featuring acoustic sounding rhythm on which Bruce was playing a Burns/Baldwin electric?

The level of the tambourine never changes.

Hi'
Isnt it possible that if there was an orchestra there then maybe someone in the pit was filling in with an acoustic acompayment & also the orchestra drummer as Brian was otherwise occupied?

Stop being picky!

There were no piezo pickup plus inbuilt pre-amp with EQ equipped acoustic guitars able to be used for live work back then...

Bruce obviously worked diligently back then on getting a sound from his solid body electric guitars that was as close as possible to the acoustic sound he got on the recordings. He can still get that rhythm sound nowadays, as we know, although he also uses modern acoustics with electrics..

For me, there is no acoustic guitar there, only the sound of Bruce's electric guitar (yes close of an acoustic guitar's sound) and you also can see the chords positions he uses give the right voicings you can hear. Also his right hand movement is right on time with what we can hear. He just anticipates the movement after each break.
