New Tricks Music

Postby John Boyd » 06 Mar 2012, 10:52

Hello all,
Have just been watching the first in a new series (well it is in NZ) of the UK TV show 'New Tricks' and thoroughly enjoyed it.
My question is, does anyone know if Brian Bennett's music for this programme is available on CD?
Chees,
JB

Bjorn,

Grab a pen and start writing -the 'pause' button is on the left! ;)

Didnt the first series have the Travelling Wilburys "End of the Line" as its theme, before being replaced by the very similar present theme?

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the responses.
I had rather hoped there might be a CD available - maybe one day.
Now back to listening to 'Space Party' a CD by The Invaders with P.O.Alm (previously on this site).
It's a very good instrumental selection.
Cheers,
JB

Bill,
No it was a CD by a group who I think are Swedish.
However, I was a big fan of the Kiwi Invaders and have all their material on CD.
They recorded some fine instros.
Let me know if I can help in that regard!
Cheers,
JB

Joining in this Aussie/Kiwi attack to derail this thread( !) I saw Ray Columbus and the Invaders on the Searchers/Peter & Gordon/Del Shannon package show Oz/NZ tour here in Adelaide in 1964.

The Invaders opened with some of their own instrumentals, then backed Ray ('She's a Mod' etc) then backed up Del Shannon and Peter & Gordon.

Hope they got paid extra, they worked hard!

Back on topic, I always thought the New Tricks theme 'It's alright' was a shameless pinch from the Wilburys 'End of the Line'- naughty!

The Lyrics

It's alright, it's okay,
Doesn't really matter if you're old and grey.
It's alright, I say it's okay,
Listen to what I say.
It's alright, doin' fine,
Doesn't really matter if the sun don't shine.
It's alright, I say it's okay,
We're gettin' to the end of the day.
High tech low tech, take your pick,
Cos' you can't teach an old dog
a brand new trick.
I don't care what anybody says,
At the end of the day,
There's no place that I can't find,
A drink or two to ease my mind.
