oupsssss... Sorry, I just realized that my comment was for "The minute you're gone" and not 'A little bitty tear".

Pierre

Point taken, Pierre! The sync of Bruce's right hand appears far more questionable in Bitty Tear.

But what do you think about the sound of the rhythm guitar on ... Bitty Tear, Pierre?

Acoustic or electric?

The giveaway for me was the relatively poor tone of Hank's solo.
It sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the beautiful tone of Bruce's rhythm.
Would there be any miking up the amps then ?
The vocals are obviously live but then the mike is right there in front of their mouths.
I reckon it's doctored.

Look at this video ( same song filmed during the same concert) and you'll see it's all live and there is no acoustic guitar.

Pierre,
That's live...
Same concert?
Oh... that's live then...
:)
p.s. tambourines are misleadngly loud! Especially when there are mic's positioned all over the stage picking it up!...

Steve, you're right regarding the tambourine, Brian is moving and the sound is more or less loud depending of where he is towards the microphones and the person who filmed. Also the cameras were not as good as they are nowadays. Same for the sound system. Bruce's guitar sound has more presence than the one of Hank, etc...

Hasnt Bruce always been the master of geting an acoustic sound from an electic? I remember a detailed discussion on the old site following the Final Tour when he had that lovely acoustic sound. Did he have Piezo pick up fitted to the Strat and stuff like that? Warren settled it when he said it was Bruces experience, technique and style and the Strat had not been altered in anyway!

It's not too difficult to get an acoustic type sound from most Fenders- with a Strat , use the middle pickup, about half volume on the guitar with the tone control full on to treble, then adjust amp volume level to suit. Heavier gauge strings, especially when new, will help, as will a wound third.
With a two pickup model like a Tele or Jazzmaster, use the two pickups on together.

Similar usable acoustic tones can be obtained from the front pickup, but the bridge pickup on its own is usually a bit too thin sounding when used at half volume on the guitar.

'Roach,

I agree with what you say -and I would add I find it easier to do on a Marvin than a Strat. ;)

I'll take your word for that Bill, as I've only ever had two brief occasions trying out Marvins owned by friends, and they are certainly not as common as Strats in shops etc if you wanted to try one out!
