........ and don't forget, the Tele was seen being played live by Bruce in concerts, so it was more than a prop for a photo shoot. ;)

Did Bruce still have his Jazzmaster at this juncture? Had that been the instrument suspended from the chair, we would have been spared all this discussion, enjoyable as it is!

And the sweather on Bruce is a gift from the Nowegian singer Jan Rohde. He met Cliff & The Shadows in London on tour with his backinggroup The CoolCats. The sweather was knitted by Jans mother..

That's right, I saw Bruce playing a Tele the first time I saw the Shadows at the Paris Olympia. It must have been in 1961, as Tony and Jet were still there. It wasn't the "Musicorama" radio show (I listened to it at home), but the normal Olympia program, lasting several days, with the Shadows as top of the bill.
Hank was playing the red Strat with maple neck (with no spare guitar on stage as he did later with the Gretsch), Jet was playing a sunburst PB.

There are also a few videos showing Bruce playing a Tele, so if he never owned a Tele, or recorded with one, he certainly played it !
I sometime wonder if the one he used at the Paris Olympia might have been lended by the French Fender importer for promotional purposes. The next time I'll meet Bruce, I'll ask him, just in case he might remember it !...

Was it a white one or was it the blonde one similar to the picture on the first album? The reason I ask is that someone else claims they saw Bruce with a Telecaster - not blonde but white - crikey I'm beginning to sound like an anorak . . . . . .

Quite right, Donna. Jet was naturally dark but dyed blonde. Licorice was red/ginger. Jet's hair looks an odd colour in that picture!

If the drummer is Tony, the bass player will always be Jet. If the bass player is Licorice the drummer will always be Brian. In case that helps.

There is an exception to this but it's a good rule for all the early photos.

As fas as I can remember it was the same as on the 1st LP cover picture, but it could have been white. As you know, the lighting may have played a part...

I wonder if Jet's hair colouring process went slightly awry prior to the album cover photoshoot, or maybe it was just the photographic reproduction itself! I certainly can't recall seeing it that shade of ginger in any other pictures.
