Rapiers Echo unit missing

Postby Geoff Strachan » 21 Mar 2012, 10:13

Hi all, Sometime during the last few days, Colin's spare echo unit has gone missing. It may have been inadvertantly left at one of the theaters, or possibly stolen. The unit is the one Colin has used for the last 12 years, an Atlantis machine that I re-housed in a vintage style metal case. It is unique, and well known in the Shadows community, and would be difficult to sell. If anyone comes accross any information regarding the where this unit may be, Colin would be very greatful if they could pass the information on to the band.

Hi Geoff, how bad news. Some days ago I saw a photo of The Rapiers in Holland published by Neil (March 13th) on Facebook and in that photo Colin was using his Atlantis instead of the new one you built for him. Neil told that the other echo had had an electrical problem which it had been solved already. Later I saw another photo of the band using the old Meazzi. As you say it´s difficult to sell that special Atlantis and I hope it´ll appear sooner or later. This is a very limited world.
Cheers

This is bad news, but it will be extremnyl difficult to sell, as there is only one like this, and it's well known by Shadows' fans !
I remember I first saw it when the Rapiers came to play at the Bobino theater in Paris in 2001. At this time I didn't know it had the Atlantis circuits inside.

P.S. I put the message on our French Shadows' forum, just in case...
BTW, the pic above was taken by me at the Bobino theater in 2001 !

According to a close friend of mine in Holland, what actually happened was that Colin accidently left it at a theatre and so far he has been unable to locate it, this was his spare one, Jimmy Jemain & The Rapiers are currently pulling in audiences of 450/500 people a night, so I hope they find it and no one has stolen it.

Allo!
Yes-One of our echoes is 'missing,' but Colin didn't inadvertently leave it anywhere!

Each night, Colin is meticulous about ensuring his equipment is packed and ready to go. We have a crew who put it aboard their truck from that point, usually watched with trepidation every night by a panicking Col, then checked again by the crew. Each theatre has been contacted by ourselves, and the crew , and the promotion company but to no avail. Our, soundman/stage manager is 99 per cent sure that the unit was not left behind in a theatre and suspects that it is a case of theft.

As Didier has pointed out several features of this unit are totally unique, and we would ask all you chaps and chapesses out there to keep your ears open if you hear of anyone trying to offload it.

Luckily we have an echo with us and the tour continues succesfully. Thanks for the good wishes all.

Has the echo turned up yet?
If the Rapiers are doing the Cliff tribute tour with Jimmy.
Wouldn't the echo be the Meazzi drum type model replica that he had built & not the one we all now in the last picture?
