Pipeline 2012

Postby George Geddes » 25 Mar 2012, 19:58

Given the excellent news confirmed today, it is perhaps appropriate to remind everyone of the regular springtime instrumenta; feast that is the Pipeline Convention.

Easter Sunday at the Metropolitan Police Sports Club, Bushey, Herts

Five great bands: Shazam, The Charades, Reverb Syndicate, The Shadders and The Tone Raiders

Leo's Den, Bim Bam Records and more sales stalls...

Food, drink and an audience of like-minded music fans.

More info at www.pipelinemag.co.uk

See you there?

Many 'famous names' come to the Convention.
Bruce is often to be seen when he is 'talent-spotting' for Shadowmania. Colin and Janet and John from The Rapiers come regularly (not sure about this year because of the tour). Clem Cattini (The Tornados) was to be seen last year, as was Peter Knight of The Moontrekkers (who overdubbed some of the Clavioline on The Tornados' Telstar and now owns that famous instrument). Imperial Rome sometimes makes an appearance in the person of Mike O'Neil (Nero, of Nero & The Gladiators) and . . . . come on, George, help me out here . . . . .

George himself is getting quite a name as an announcer and compere, one of his specialities being the ability to pronounce correctly the names of band members from any foreign country and entirely from memory. I doubt that he will let us down in the sartorial stakes, either. Of recent years the extravagent tie (always with a musical theme) has been paired up with matching socks!

You are too kind, Ray...

In recent years we have also been joined by Judd Proctor, and the late Roger Dean both well-known to instro fans of a certain age. Last year, I shared the stage, albeit briefly, with Billie Davis who came along to introduce the then new DVD about Jet. Yup, it's the place to be on Easter Sunday if you like The Shadows, ventures, Eagles, Outlaws, etc., etc.

Ray,

Before they left for their tour of Holland Cloin said to me "The Rapiers return from Holland on Easter Sunday and won't be home 'till later in the day" so won't get to Pieline this year unfortunately.

Ah... so perhaps they will be at the party advertised by email a couple of days ago!

See you at Tilburg or Pipeline, Barry?
