News about the Heritage Foundation Tribute to Jet

Postby audreyk » 04 Mar 2012, 20:51

Hi Everyone,

We now have some more news about the Blue Plaque unveiling and the Heritage Foundation Memorial Lunch in tribute to Jet on Sunday 1 April.

We’re very pleased to be able to announce that Mo Foster, Clem Cattini, Mike Berry and Daniel Martin will each be joining the Shadowers to perform tributes to Jet. Unfortunately Zoe McCulloch will not now be performing and, as many people know, Alan Jones is unable to perform at this event due to a minor health problem. However, we’re delighted that Jay Hartop has offered to play bass for the Shadowers. A big “thank you” to Jay for stepping in to help!!

Just to remind you of the details for this special tribute to Jet – the Blue Plaque will be unveiled by Bruce Welch, Marty Wilde, Janet Hemingway and Chris Tremlett, Jet’s aunt. The Plaque will be sited at the Kingswood Centre, Honeypot Lane, London NW9 9QY which stands on the site of the former Willesden Maternity Hospital where Jet was born.

The unveiling ceremony will be followed by a Memorial Lunch in tribute to Jet at The Marriott Hotel, Regents Park, London NW3 3ST. Tickets cost £78 which includes wine with the lunch and entertainment.

The lunch will be co-hosted by Vicki Michelle MBE, who is the new president of the Heritage Foundation and Jeffrey Holland (from ‘Hi-De-Hi’) who is a big fan of Jet and the Shadows. Bruce and Marty will be joining us for the Memorial Lunch and guests also include Dave Berry and Mike Berry.

There will be an afternoon of entertainment which will include performances by The Shadowers, featuring Mo Foster, Clem Cattini, Mike Berry and Daniel Martin and also a special performance by Kevin Dean. There will also be more surprises on the day!

Tickets are available from David Graham, Chairman of the Heritage Foundation, on the credit card ticket hotline 020 834 29953. Tickets are still available, but they are selling fast, so please book now to avoid disappointment. David has asked me to let everyone know that you can call this number anytime between 9:00am and 10:00pm any day.

Coaches will be available for those wanting transport from the unveiling ceremony to the Marriott Hotel. The cost will be £5 per person. Please book your seat when booking for the event.

As always, please PM or email me if you need any more details - or for more information about the Heritage Foundation please go to: http://www.theheritagefoundation.info/index.html

Best wishes

In addition to Audrey's comments, the Shadowers would also like to thank Jay Hartop for stepping in on bass guitar for this gig. He's really putting himself out during a busy period and his efforts are much appreciated.

Also thanks to Daniel Martin. On a personal note, although Dan and I have been friends for years we've never performed together on stage "officially", discounting a handful of tunes at Shads clubs very occasionally. I can't wait.

Most importantly, though, we're looking forward to playing at this event and paying tribute to Jet. It will be a special yet poignant day.

I would like to say my own personal thanks to the Heritage Foundation for their wonderful tribute to Jet on Sunday. Very emotional at times, but a truly fitting celebration of the life of a true legend.

I must agree with Russ's comments,a very enjoyable day, good speeches from Bruce and Marty and some very nice words also from Cliff and Licorice including a video of the latter playing "A Prayer"
The Shadowers put on a good show and all credit to Jay Hartop for doing such a good job standing in at the last minute, likewise all the guest players.
Many thanks to Audrey and Barry for all their good work, often against the odds, and also for playing taxi for Maggie and me over the weekend.

Des.

I can only agree. It was a good tribute to Jet. I have put some pics on Facebook. I also have a couple of videos with The Shadowers. They will be on Youtube later.
Thanks to Audrey for helping me buying my ticket. :)
