Didier told us some time ago that Patrice Bastien successfully converted a Binson to replicate a Meazzi 'wheel' machine.
I had David's Binson in the studio for a while and it does have a certain 'magic' in the echo tone, for which I believe the wheel mechanism/design is responsible for.

I can tell you that the sound is excellent. It's a great engine...

phil kelly wrote:When i saw the said echo in question i was told it has no moving parts, no tape loop etc, no valves, purely a cosmetic replica , reason being it had broken down at a gig and whilst trying to find the fault i suggested perhaps a valve had gone down or a component, then being told no as there isnt any,it didnt even have a typical chassis style build that could be removed as with the meazzis/vox units, could this be another rehoused atlantis perhaps ? looked good though , but never heard it,
Phil.

As far as I know this echo unit housed in a Meazzi look-alike box uses solid state circuits (no valves, no moving parts), not taken from an Atlantis unit, but similar in design (using analog BBD delay components).

In fact he now have converted a second Binson PE603-T into a Meazzi clone. The circuits are totally rewired according to the Meazzi schematics, and the heads spacing are modified to match the Meazzi model 2 unit (as used for Wonderful land).
Here it is in action (february 2012 in Paris) :

A really good authentic sound, but I maintain that the Vox amp is where the sound is crafted - it sounds like my own, when used with any one of several echo machines I possess. I still like it though.

Both are needed, as you can see on this video, Patrice is using a Vox AC15-H1TV amp !

Hi, I'm not clued up with these things it might not even be the same make or model but I remembered this topic being posted a few weeks ago, I have just been looking on the gumtree site and I've found this, as I said I'm not clued up with these and this unit might legally belong and could be being sold by a member of this forum so I don't want anyone to think I'm calling anyone a thief I just came across this advert.
