Hank's new solo album

Is there any news on Hank's planned new solo album? (When) will it be released?

The problem is, what does he record?
I enjoyed 75% of his last solo album, but there were a lot of negative comments about it in these parts. The 25% I didn't enjoy was the choice of material rather than Hank's performance.

Hanks said he is currently completing a new album with his Gypsy Jazz Quartet. It has recently been mastered and will simply be called “Gypsy Jive” and is due for release very soon.

I thought it was to be his Gypsy jazz anyway rather than his "Guitar Player" or Guitar Man" style albums.
I guess you'll never please all of the people all of the time and I too wasn't keen on 25% of "Guitar Man" but I enjoyed the 75% so much, it didnt matter. I reckon that if I like HALF an album its a good enough reason to buy it. We buy BT CD's - is that because we want to play to EVERY track on it? I don't think so.
"Guitar Player" for me though was just sublime - still love 100% of it and can play half of it!! And that's probably an exaggeration!! LOL!! If he were to do another of that style, I'd be Soooo happy but I doubt he will.

I suspect it might be new releases from Django Marvin rather than Hank Marvin from now on...so don't hold your breath waiting to hear him with the red Strat again soon...

I loved that Guitar Player one, too. I bought it without knowing what it was supposed to be stylistically...it was before I joined this Forum. It said 'Hank Marvin" on the amazon.co.uk screen, so I just bought it. It is the only album I've ever bought where I played it all the way through to the end, the first time around. With new albums, I usually only play three or four tracks at the most and then switch to something more familiar. This one was too good to hit the Stop button.

If Hank's new album is a Gypsy Jazz album, I will buy it. At this moment, I am not of the mindset that I would like that sort of music, but knowing that it is Hank playing will undoubtedly change my mind when I actually hear it. How could I resist?

Kind regards,
Donna
