Hi Hugh
Thanks. I'm pleased to know you have the same guitar (two of them!) and are also very happy with them. The trem was the only problem I noticed as it doesn't work because the bridge is flat against the body but that could be easily fixed. It stayed in tune very well too and was very easy to play. My fingers seemed to glide up and down the fretboard so much more easily than on my Strats. I'd love to know why that is though it has 9s and not 10s that I use on the Strats so perhaps that also helps. It cost about $200 but that was in the country where prices are usually a little higher. I noticed a city shop on their website has them advertised for $165. There is still possibly space in this room for another guitar ... maybe in the future I'll buy a Squier as another backup :)
Best wishes
Rosemary

Hi Rosemary. I too had problems with the trem system, to be fair for the money you cant expect too much. The trem on the red one was the worst, the other one in Canada is'nt too bad but neither are great for staying in tune. I plan to install a good one sometime. I dont use it much anyway so there is no great rush at the moment, I've hard-tailed them for the time being. I'm going to check out some Squier Tele's when I'm out in Canada with a view to purchasing. Just what I need, another guitar

Hi Hugh
I think I'll leave mine as is too as it's only for practice when away. Have a great time in Canada and hope you find a nice Squier Tele :)
Best wishes

I swore all my playing life that I'd never purchase a Tele as I never liked them. But someone somewhere has injected me with the bug for one now :o

I've been looking in Youtube and some of the guys in there get some beautiful bluesy jazzy sounds from them(Robben Ford for one, and of course Ted Greene) which is just what I want.
So its back to digging out the plastic I'm afraid once I see the right one for me

Hugh

Maybe what you want is a Telecaster in Fiesta Red with a tremolo that stays in tune and all-gold hardware and some great-sounding split single-coil pickups.

Thats an unsual one Ray, is it yours or just one you saw on the net?.
The one I have in mind so far if it plays and sounds well is this one or the white version, depending on what looks best.

I'm over in Canada at the moment and yesterday I was on the phone to a music store not too far away that has a selection of them, so I'll have a look at the weekend. I can save a few quid if I purchase it here. I'll just take the neck off and stick the lot in my case for the homeward journey, as far as I can gather, you are allowed goods up to 300 quid before you need to pay duty :D The last one I took over, I just put it through as baggage as it was BA and they allowed two items of luggage at the time. Then when I got to Heathrow, my flight to Glasgow was cancelled due to the snow so I got bussed up to Scotland. They lost track of all the luggage because of the back-up and I was having thoughts of never seeing my guitar again, but it arrived a couple of days later and my case a few days after that much to my surprise.
Cheers Hugh.

Hi Hugh, I've had the Alden TV Cruiser DLX for five or six years now and it has become my regular gigging guitar (as well as offering some nice sounds for recording).

I was in the Guitar Guitar shop in Epsom, Surrey last week - wonderful selection of instruments and most seemed to be the 'big name' brands rather than the cheapy clones that a lot of small music shops have to stock. OK, it was a Wednesday afternoon, but the place was very, very quiet. If you don't find what you want in Canada, I'm sure you'd have plenty of opportunity to try out anything you want at Guitar Guitar.

Hi Hugh

Again, if you are not too worried about the name on the headstock, Peavey had some nice Tele clones in their Generation line and they can still be picked up s/h.

Thanks guys. I was in Abbotsford this morning and bought this one.....
http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/electric_ ... ductDetail

It was'nt the one I had in mind, but I had a shot of it and took to it right away, it was 50 dollars more but a lovely guitar.
The one I got was metalic red. I am going to take it back tomorrow though. I changed the strings from 9's to 10's and when I went to adjust the tension on the truss rod, it would not move enough to take the deep bow out of the neck. I'm a bit concerned about that as if I was wanting to put 11's or even 12''s I'd be able to use it for archery with the bend it would leave on the neck. I've never seen this problem before on any of my guitars. Its a bit of a pain going back in to change it but needs must I suppose.
Sods law eh? nicest one I've seen in a long time too:roll:
Hugh.

I got my new guitar back from the store yesterday. They could'nt sort the truss problem(manufacturing fault) so as they did'nt have the guitar in the colour I wanted they took a neck off a black model they had in stock. It seems to seat better into the body than the original, it plays really good and sounds great too.
Its strange. I was looking online at the black ones and they look really good in the pics but when you actually see one, they dont look so good but the metalic red really looks the business.
I never thought I'd say a Tele was a great guitar but there you go, I'm a convert now :D
Or maybe its just senility having taken hold
