Quite right.

Black (especially with a white scratchplate) is a very nondescript and uninspiring colour for a Fender. It looks as though no thought has been put into it.

It looks better with a black scratchplate and maple neck, but only a bit.

Ha ,Try telling Sir Eric of Clapton that lol :D and make sure that "Blackie" is not listening

Strangely enough, black Strats look so much better if you put a black scratchplate on instead of the white. I've seen some beautiful customised ones in this fashion.

Then of course there is Buddy Guy with his black and white polka dot Strat with his black and white shirt on. He looks like he's just holding a maple neck in the video.

This one is a white Strat with black dots but I saw him on a video with the colours the other way round. It was a good eye test trying to watch him play :?
