It was interesting to note that, at the Surrey Club Christmas bash with the French visiting band Shotgun Ltd, after John B and I played 'Shotgun' some of the band asked the title of that number!

... it has a lot of bonus tracks, including Kimi To Itsumademo, Omoide No Nagisa, and Gin Iro No Michi - which are Japanese titles. I love the songs but I have no idea what those words mean. ...

The titles could be translated as

Kimi To Itsumademo = Till Eternity With You
Omoide No Nagisa = Beach Of Memories
Gin Iro No Michi = Road To Somewhere

Must be a "Drummer" thing, but as Ron (Innes) said (above), I, too, have a pretty good grasp of the Shads & MWF catalogue (Less-so when it comes to the Cliff stuff - but I can always ask SWMBO, eh?), but do sometimes have difficulty putting names to tunes (even with some of the hits!!). I somehow recall that even some of The Shadows, themselves, suffer from a similar difficulty.

As the old gag goes............................."You hum it and I'll play it!"

I'm afraid I'm good only to 1964, Jim, pre-Burns. That was when I moved with the rest of the teenagers here away from the Ventures and thevShadows to the Beatles and company.

I have as far as I know everything they have recorded (and some they haven't) but do sometimes have trouble putting a name to a song when I hear it which is not surprising when there are so many tracks. I suppose it depends on how often you play the lesser known numbers

I came across Santa Anna a few months back and was quite taken by the tune and quickly learnt it. So no I do not know the full list of Shads tunes and I really like this tune and noted the Atlantis bits in middle and yes it was a Jerry Lordan composition as well.

I know quite a lot of Shads tunes,my club has a live playing repitoir of around 100 tunes including some of Jet's and as a bass player I play them all. Still a long way to go however, - the list seems never ending !

As a teenager in the late 70s I 'discovered' The Shadows around the time of 20 Golden Greats in 1977. Over the next few years I gradually collected all their recordings from jumble sales, 2nd hand records shops etc. (Only a small proportion were still 'on catalogue' by then). I remember wondering if I would ever find some of the rarer items like Jet Black, Evening Comes (Hank) or the German double "Best of..." LPs which included I Can't Forget. Every time I bought a new LP, EP or 45 I clearly remember the excitement of playing it for the first time.
Nowadays you can hear pretty much everything the Shads have recorded (I imagine) with just a few clicks on your laptop...why would any fan not have heard everything?!

Indeed. It's hard to imagine a Beatles fan not having and knowing the contents of all eleven studio albums and the two non-LP compilations, as well as the 1961 Polydor Hamburg recordings. It's even harder to conceive of a Cliff Richard fan not being aware of the 1958/59 material, right through The Young Ones, Summer Holiday, On The Beach, Blue Turns To Grey (a very under-rated track), Congratulations, Hello Sam Hello Samantha, Miss You Nights, etc.
