Hi Keith

If this wasn't stated on the pro-forma invoice you should be OK, it could be that they have changed their policy since I last purchased them. I went that route because my bank couldn't tell me what the charges the other end would be until after the transaction and were quoting £20.00 charges this end, so I opted for the lower known cost, it just took a couple of days extra for the cheque to arrive their end.

Regards

Hi Keith

I just checked and it was the same on the pro-former that received, it was my bank that told me there would be fees at both ends, but they were quoting much more than your bank for the transaction. There may be differences in the way the bank handles them, but might just be worth checking with them?

With a Post Office Giro cheque it was just a case of buying it in Euros and sending it to them, which proved to be just as easy and a known cost.

If the company has an email address, can they not take payment by Paypal?

No jim, they will only accept payment using a proforma invoice, bank transfer direct to their nominated a/c

Hi Keith

No... I must admit I had my doubts early on, but George turned out to be great guy to deal with and kept me up to speed with Emails. I didn't get to find out if he is THE George as in George Dennis or if this was just co-incidence.

They are obviously doing a small injection moulding run on the 72 off, from my knowledge of the plastics business this is quite a small batch size, so I was little surprised it was worth his while.

Hi Jim

If you don't mind waiting until they receive the Euro cheque (about 2/3 days), this is probably a reasonably secure and cheap way to get them. George Emailed me on the day he received the cheque to say they were being despatched.

Thanks for the tip, Gary.

I'm not a great user of those George Dennis picks, But I still have a couple of them. Like all attenders at the 2004 Bonnington event, even we, the organisers, each got a couple as a freeby in the George Geddes-devised "goody bag".

I don't use them for a Shads sound, or at local rock/blues jams, but I find them very satisfying when playing my "The Loar" archtop acoustic - they round off the tone beautifully, though they would not not leave enough edge in the timbre for more general playing, especially on electric.

Still, I wouldn't mind getting hold a of a few more. I fear, though, that seventy-two would be rather more than a lifetime supply for me.

The ones I have,I got them from the man himself...
A few from diffrent concerts in the past.
But also a few as a exchange gift, in his dressingroom after one of the 2005 concerts in HMH Amsterdam...
I gave him a few of my fav picks because we had a very nice discusion about the picks he use.
He told me that the red ones he uses now are his fav, because they have a nice grip and a sharp edge.
But i replied that he use a lot of them during a show, frequently grab new ones from his trouserpocket, examen the edge and sometimes he put a pick back...
He said that I was right, they ware out quick and often he re shape the edge in his free time....and use those again. :o
When i gave a few of my green Jim Dunlop M3 his eyes light up and he smiled and said "i used those in the past ,they sound great even better as the red ones, but they are slippery...
I told him that i tried the red ones a few times but prev the green JD M3...they sound better I said.
Did you buy them new? Hank ask....no i just used the few you gave me......he said "well there you go....secondhand gear... you never know what you get" ;)

This is really too late but I bought a bag on 10 for £5-00 at the Pipline Convention this year. I don't know who was selling them but it was the person with the first sales desk on the left side as you face the stage.
