It was Shez last night on guitar - fantastic band. We had the full compliment at Warwick with backing singers and Richard Hawley. Set list pretty much as described by Ray with a couple of swaps although I'm not up on Duane Eddy titles. Glad I took the opportunity to go and hear the king of the twang.

The support act - Nell Bryden - was fantastic certainly a name for the future, she was happy to spend a few minutes talking to my 10 year old daughter who sings and plays guitar - it made her night! And I heard her new single on R2 this morning!

My father has seen Duane Eddy live, back in May, 1991, when he was a special guest during The Everly Brothers tour.

I hope this wasn't Duane's last tour, but if it was I will have seen him on his first (on April 13th 1960)

as well as on his last (on May 20th 2012)

Duane Eddy was at the Sage in Gateshead last Sunday night.

Fabulous show with Richard Hawleys band backing him, in the smaller hall ( Sage 2) that is arranged "in the round" complete with balcony's & standing area's, with the stage in this case taking up almost 1 side

The sound of the Twang was fabulous 8-) .....Duane has a "new" live sound that has obviously been worked on this time round to give a "fresher" sound than his last tour.
Still only using a Nocturne "dyno brain" as a pre-amp and a Dunlop MXR stereo tremolo pedal as his only effects driving his usual 2 Fender amps. The reverb is from the amps, with a bit of "enhancement" from the pa.

The sound....the band...both of these so tight & dynamic....but best of all..... the smiles on the faces of everybody on stage.

All the classics (& tracks from the new "Road Trip" album) ...twanging & driving from his signature opener "Detour" to the second encore "Hard Times" the one liners & anecdotes the presence of the the man who is without doubt the "Godfather of Rock Guitar"......time just flew past & then Duane had left the stage for the final time.

Sadly Duane & Deed were not able to stay to "meet & greet" after the show as they were driving back to Sheffield that night (around 3 hours) but the memory lingers on long after the Twang had left the building.

Here's a short video clip of Duane & Chez playing "Mexborough Ferry Boat Halt"

No good trying to film the rockin stuff 'cos the place was "jumping"
(me included )

74 year old & still "Rockin' & a Twangin' " I really can't think of a better concert that I have been to for a very, very long time :D
