jiggerz like that best reply to date     i was not slaging anyone of in my reply`s just saying it as i see it. i could never do for the music industry what cliff and co have done they are legends. i enjoyed the whole show, i dont pretend to understand how difficult it is to perform live as they all did. but maybe its time for some older stars to move over and let the new talent come though. peter

David Cameron could make a lot of people happy with one gesture of his hand, simply by signing his resignation letter.

I wonder if we are all missing a fundamental point here...........

How good was the on-stage monitoring for the artists and did they get proper sound checks before the event?

It is quite possible that some of the artists were unable to hear the band properly, which would explain the problem of singing off-key.

There must have also been a lot of extraneous noise, which combined with the problem of very little reflected sound, would have made things very difficult for the performers.

Is there anybody out there who knows the answer?

If I'm wrong, which is highly likely, then some of them were pretty crap!

Also..........Grace Jones........WTF?..........And why?

Pat.

It seems that Grace Jones was born in Jamaica and therefore represents the Commonwealth, which is a rich considering Jamaica wants to leave the Commonwealth. Stevie Wonder, why ?

Tom, Shirley and Alfie seemed to manage ok.
I wouldn't have thought Dynamite was the most musically challenging of songs to perform in right key after 50 odd years of practice. :D :D

It looked rather obvious from very early on, that certain acts had difficulty in hearing the band with some appearing to hold their in ear monitors, although it could have been to shut out noise.

Hi John,

I'm all sorted, thanks for asking, just impatiently recovering now. I feel rotten to be honest but onwards and upwards...

Hope all's well with you?

baldrick57 wrote:Come on Guys , what is it with all this Cliff bashing? No the sound wasn't great but several artists suffered and it isn't necessarily down to any of them being past it ! Engelbert got slated last week by many people for his performance in Eurovision
which was also very unfair . Yes Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey were very good . Macca struggled (not for the first time ) ,Elton hasn't been the same since his throat operation years ago and yes Cliff wasn't at his best - but they are all legends and still great show people and deserve better respect . I think they will know when it's time to call it a day!

Well Said.

You're right, obviously something went wrong with ears monitors, which might explain the problems.
