Mountains of the Moon for me as well, (whichever tour it was the Shads first played it live? :? think it was 1989?),I was at the Cambridge Corn Exchange & couldnt believe my ears when this terrific 'wall of sound' engulfed the theatre when they started playing it :D ..... there is soooooo much going on in it & its been my favourite ever since that day

How do you define a drum solo?
Flingel Bunt is a strong drum feature. Does it count?
See You In My Drums has bass guitar all the way through. Does it count?
Brian Bennett, Licorice Locking and Mark Griffiths gave a performance together of Jack's Good at Shadowmania. That was a drum solo and they were Shadows. Does that count?

Dead right Steve P.
Nice to see the insults are back.
These precious self centered string pluckers think they are God's gift to music.
Some may believe that it is a 10 minute break for them well so be it.
Some only play to BT's so do I value their opinion NO WAY!

A band is not a band without ALL the components so sorry string pluckers you need a drummer, like it or not.

LONG LIVE THE DRUM SOLO.

When Tony Meehan died, I remember Brian Bennett saying the great thing about Tony's drumming was that it was so musical, or melodic or words to that effect. I think he meant you could "sing" what he was playing.
Anyway, See You in My Drums is a great example of that. So is Big B. Also neither of them is too long.
So I'll vote them Joint Top in my poll :)

One of the things I like best about The Shadows' music is that, in my opinion, there are many songs which we all like -- but perhaps for different reasons. My example would be Honourable Puff-Puff, which is one of my all-time favourite Shads tunes. I remember reading an article on the internet, some time ago, that asserted H-Puff-Puff is considered a percussion showcase, or words to that effect. And it's one of the choices on this poll for favourite drum solo, and deservedly so. Funny thing is, if I had to list only one reason why I like Puff-Puff so much, I would say it's the bass playing. So here's a song that has an excellent drum solo, terrific bass playing, and more.

Thanks for listening,
Donna

I am suprised that so few people selected "Captain Haddock is missing", which is really a great drum solo.

Also, no one has selected "The Drum Number" or the live version of "Arty's Party". This last one is also one of my favourites.
