"My Way" would at least have sounded more contemporary than some of their singles releases.

I, too, am a big fan of "My Way" and also the songs that Chris mentioned from "Specs Appeal." My knowledge of which songs were A-sides and which were B-sides is very poor, so I will instead generalise my opinion to say that I wish they would have been able to release more vocals as singles. I respect their marketing decision to be known as an instrumental band, so I suppose they probably couldn't have released as many vocal songs as I would have liked, so as not to conflict with their own image. But The Shadows are superb singers and are under-appreciated in that regard, I think. Well, not by us :D but you know what I mean.

Kind regards,
Donna

Should add that I think both ROCKIN' WITH CURLY LEADS and JUMPIN' JACK INPUT really should have been singles!!

My Way is much underrated. We in The Secrets felt that and recorded it for the second album. However, The Shadows' instrumental version is very short and the vocal version is, well, vocal, so we combined elements of both to make a full-length instrumental. Here is a minutes-worth. The lead part (with a nod to Jet) is played on a 6-string bass.
