Short Video of "Together Behind the Scenes"

Postby donna plasky » 08 Aug 2012, 23:43

Hi. I found this short video which seems to be behind-the-scenes footage from a tour in 1984. As always with the Shadows, there are very subtle touches of humour if you watch it closely enough...like when Bruce is carrying Cliff's guitar. Very funny. Then I found a clip from 1978 which gave me that nostalgic-but-sad sort of feeling. Perhaps you have seen these before. I hadn't.

Kind regards,
Donna

Looks like the first video is an extract of "Together" (1984), and the second one from "Thank you very much" (1978), both were issued on VHS.

Thank you for the links, Donna. I had not seen those. And I never heard of those videos, Didier. I wonder if they are available as DVDs.

Regrettably neither appeared on DVD (that I could ever find anyway)

So made my own "backup" of the VHS onto DVD

Quality of course not so good.

Hi Andy,

No, these were never reissued on DVD as wrote Geoff. So some people made their own DVD from the VHS video, but of course you keep the low definition image quality from VHS, although I suppose that the master tapes were better...

I think it's about time to release both shows on DVD. Someone on this forum has said that neither have been issued as such, because of payment difficulties or differences, but I always understood that was only the case for the 1989 Wembley performances. Also, the majority of Cliff's other VHS releases are also still strangers to DVD.

It is also interesting to note that although the full concert "Cliff Richard and The Shadows Together" in 1984 was never released on DVD, a segment of The Shadows part of that concert was released on DVD. Entitled "The Shadows Live" And of course the quality of that is good.

I have it, Image quality isn't outstanding, but it's far better than VHS.

Hi. I just found another interesting video. I didn't want to start a new thread, but here it is. It's The Shadows in the studio, recording "Sailing." Seeing them create a piece of music is so much of a contrast to what it looks like when they perform a number.

Kind regards,
Donna
