Mr Robinson as we beg to disagree, Joe Brown gave Hank a Meazzi Echomatic 1 rebadged Jennings version which gave him the sound he became famouse for on his early hit records. This is a fact and has gone down in history as such, the same as Hanks stratocaster by Hanks own addmission was not the first in the UK.

Why do you hate Meazzi's so much and what is wrong with Amanda putting together a photo shoot of lots of Meazzi's at what is the going to be the last Shadowmania, this will go down in the history of Bruce Welch and what a photo that would make for all young Shadow fans to look back on and admire such rare vintage gear.

Amanda go and get lots of Meazzi's and do the photoshoot....
Mr Robinson you come accross to me as miserable B*****d the type that always knock others attemps at doing good.
You annoy people and I am one of them....be nice or shut up

Me miserable ?

Get your facts right pal, listen to the pre Vox / Meazzi recordings and then you might just shut up ! You need to do a lot more listening and research.
If the truth annoys you, then so be it.

Mr Robinson you still did not answer my questions, and what have you got against Amanda trying to do something constructive for all Shadows fans to enjoy... your attitude says it all really.

Micheal, Robbo doesn't need me to stand his corner but you have to realise although we both were in different South Yorks bands in 1962 onwards we played the same club cicuit. Robbo's whole musical career was built on the sound of the early '60s backing Dave Berry and others. He is and has been making a living since those days as a profesional guitarist.

Personally I would listen to Robbo when he speaks on tech stuff. Yes he can be a right gobfull but if you know him he's someone who's in the loop.

Thanks for the compliment, Dave. To clarify, though: the noise that was causing me problems on the Shadowers' Nottingham gig was caused by the single coil pickups, not the Meazzi. It was a problem which I have had remedied since that gig. To prevent the buzzing between tunes when chatting to the audience I used the mute switch on my tuner which was before the echo in the signal chain. The following night in Birdwell I had no problems with buzzing so I assume it was the wiring of the room and the lighting.

Yes, the Meazzi does exacerbate any noise to a small extent as each playback head is, in effect, acting like a mini amplifier. That means the louder you set the echo signal the louder the buzzing will be, just like turning an amp up loud (think of the beginning of "Back to the Future"). But it doesn't introduce noise of its own. If I'm playing in a small room I might hear the analogue sounds of the tape movement between tunes but it is so quiet that any ambient noise drowns it out. I've used the Meazzi in my recording experiments with no ill side-effects and I'll use it if I ever record anything which is intended for the public domain.

HTH...

I like all the comments but the real hard facts are the Meazzi is where Hank Marvin got his sound from, no one can deny this so love them or hate them, even if you have had a bad or good experiance with a Meazzi they are the Rolls Royce of Hanks sound.

And....... in last night's Olympic ceremony.... was there a Meazzi in sight ?

NO !

There's the proof !

I'm sure I saw that bloke playing the Gretsch ask Ray Davies' dad if he'd seen Ecca's echo unit yet.

Eric, I heard on Radio 2 this morning that it was Ken Dodd singing Waterloo Sunset and not Ray Davies. Do keep up. ;)

Hi all
Can I bring my ESE VI along and stand in the team shot? Will we get eleven players?
Not getting into the old and new argument. Myself I am a 100% ESE fan but love the sound of the MEAZZI's at the past few Shadowmania's.
Regards Geoff.
