.... idea for Shadowmania 2012

It would certainly be a nice gesture to his friend Bruce and many Shadow fans worldwide and also a tribute
to his own very long career - if hank would attend the last ShadowMania in 2012.

The part as lead guitarist in BW Shadows is indeed vacant. How can such an idea fails for years?

This would need to be the only reason for Phil not appearing.

Well Yes and No....

Yes it would be nice to see The Shads again :D over the moon springs in mind
No, because all those years Bruce carried on the shadmusic flame for us,and geuss who will get all the attention when Hank will be there...for the first time!
Both deserve all the attention they deserve, don't take me wrong.....but for this last SM I think it will be only appropiate to say farwell to Bruce and thank him for all the things SM was and is for us fans.

Just my 2p

Tin hat in place ;)

A couple of hours after I read Phil's post last night, this thought occurred to me...complete with the light bulb over my head. Initially I was so distressed to hear that Phil isn't feeling well that I didn't understand the message.

I adore both Bruce and Hank, but I agree with Rob. I wouldn't want to see someone else "steal the show." But if this was Bruce's decision, then that would mean Bruce is OK with it. So I will try to look at it that way, but either way it is bittersweet.

Kind regards,
Donna

Everyone should try in life in certain situations to jump over his own shadow - it's the last Shadow Mania. And it NEVER took place before with Bruce & Hank.
In these historic moments certainly not one thinks only of stealing the show - all the bass players and drummers of the Shadows took part in the years before.
an in the foreground was the music of the Shadows not stealing one another the show. Only Hank was missing no matter what the reasons were.

Are we not all one community ? Changes we should allow and never see only negative !

Dear Hans: You are right, and if I was being negative then I shouldn't be doing that. All that is important to me is that Bruce does what Bruce wants to do, not what anybody else thinks he should do. He has always been there for the other Shadows when they needed him -- especially Jet and John R. -- and now it is time for others to return the gesture. If in the end Hank does show up at the event, it would have to be either because Bruce asked him to and Hank obliged, or Hank volunteered to come and Bruce graciously accepted his offer. Either way, it is what Bruce wants. I would give Hank some credit too; this cannot be easy for him, either. I don't think he would be doing this for the money or for his career. He would be doing it for Bruce.

I wrote out these words to express my own guilt about first thinking that hey it would be nice if Hank would attend for a change, to moments later thinking hey why is Hank (possibly) coming. I don't know why I did that, and I feel bad about it.

Thank you for listening.

Kind regards,
Donna
