From the CD Description: “Apache..... A number 1 in the UK for The Shadows and no. 2 in the US for Jordan Ingmann.” Jordan Ingmann, who? :?:

Hi Keld

It was Jorgen Ingmann who had the USA hit with "Apache"

There was also vocal version done by Sonny James, but this didn't seem to get much coverage at the time.

I'd be fairly sure that Keld already knows that!

Also - all of the tracks (apart from the CBS single) were mono as no stereo LP was presumably available (it being impossibly diffcult to find copies) to the compiler. This RPM reissue is fully licensed and from EMI's master tapes. So, even if anyone reading this already has a copy of the '50th Anniversary' CD - then I would still say that you would need a copy of the new RPM compilation both for the superb sound quality and the booklet. Just my thoughts anyway.

Bests....Rob :)

It is really great to get all these tracks in stereo now. However, RPM missed the opportunity to include Jerry's Fontana and CBS single, which then would have combined ALL of his released recordings. (Collectors are never satisfied! )

I wonder, Ulrich, what was the original source of supply of the scanned rare Fontana single? The rubber stamp impressions on the labels suggest it could have been part of an official library collection!

Know we're a bit late coming back on this - rushed with orders for "Meeting with The Shadows" - so naughty us this got overlooked but YES Leo's Den will be stocking this. We are hoping to get copies in time for Shadowmania although it's not released until the 24th. It will be up on our site in the next couple of days. Promo expected tomorrow so we can get something up on our sound site too.

Hi Bill,
I have tried to find out myself, but without success. The remains of the rubber stamp on both labels don't give a clue except that it comes from a library. I bought the single quite some time ago on eBay and the seller could not supply any information at all.

Just received an advance copy of the CD from RPM (so it WILL be ready by Shadowmania). WOW! The sound quality is truly fantastic - I used the word awesome replying to Mark Stratford. This is a classy product and a fine tribute to Jerry Lordan. Excellent booklet with rare photographs and a biography (approved by Claudine Lordan I'm pleased to say) by yours truly. The stereo tracks of the original stereo album are just superb. The sound of the original mono singles is also in the best quality ever heard. "You Came A Long Way From St Louis" and "Let's Try Again" (A & B sides of Parlophone R4748) were discovered (previously unknown) to have been recorded in stereo too and so make their stereo debut on CD (along with the 12 LP tracks). In fact, just about everything here is officially on CD for the very first time. As a further bonus for fans and collectors - the actual demos of both "Diamonds" and "Scarlett O'Hara" which were sent to Jet Harris are included too. For this we have to thank both Dave Holbrook (who acquired the acetates from Jet himself) and Claudine Lordan who gave permission for them to be included. There is a touching and poignant memoir from Claudine as well as the last photograph of Jerry taken just before he fell seriously ill. Highly recommended.

Yes, a fascinating and superbly presented product - congratulations to all those involved. I've only ever seen the original Parlophone album in mono (PMC 1133), but it would be a real feather in the cap for Jerry to have it issued in stereo as well, especially in 1961.

Would anyone know the identity of the lead guitarist featured in the Johnnie Spence version of Apache?

Hi Bill,

"All My Own Work" was parallel released in the mono (Parlophone PMC 1133) and stereo (Parlophone PCS 3014) format in 1961.

I have the mono issue and only saw the stereo release once in my life. (Anyone willing to give away his copy? )
