Hello All

I cannot make it to Shadowmania this year due to work commitments but I hope all of you lucky buggers that are going to be there have a fantastic time. Don't worry about who is going to play lead, Bruce will not let you down.
If you read this Bruce, thanks for so many years of top class entertainment and good luck with whatever you are planning for the future. You really should release something just to keep us lot quiet, it might not be the Shads but we all know it would be top class.
Have a great night everybody

Jim :D

I don't agree with the " you can't just turn up and play " theory, Hank turned up at the Marty Wilde 50th anniversary gig, went backstage for the toilet and talk to a few of the performers, and was handed a strat and asked to play, and he did right there and then, guys of his stature ( who If you re-call like Bruce, Jet, Licorice and Hank were groomed on performing when put on the spot in their " 2 I's coffee bar " days) can just " do it " when required, these guys are true pro musicians and are and will always be "greats" in the true sense of the word because they can just " turn up and gig", unlike some of these pre-madonas we get in the music industry today

Hmm maybe the odd number and Marty Wildes 50 years would put it around 5 or 6 years ago when the Shadows had been on tour a couple of years and were well rehearsed, but turn up and play an hour or so's set straight off, maybe, maybe not who knows?

But it's all conjecture, perhaps Cliff will turn up and sing, but I doubt that either

People can obviously just turn up and play, whoever, anytime, anywhere... I believe they call it 'jamming'! You have things called 'jam nights'... in my neck of the woods at least. On such occasions... a weird and wonderful thing called improvisation comes into play!!!! Sometimes, for example, you'll have a 'house band'... and Joe Bloggs will join in, on guitar, spontaneously, spur of the moment, improvising... suss out the chords, arrangement etc... and just play. Playing the blues, or well known rock 'n' roll standards, familiar to most people/muso's, are particularly popular at these events. For reasons unknown to even myself, as I haven't analyzed why, speaking as a musician... I actually prefer, often, 'jam nights' to gigs where you have rehearsed and practiced with a band until you are blue in the face!
As for Shadowmania... I have heard, ear to the ground... that a certain person called Hank something or the other... has been spotted in England at one time or another over the past couple of weeks. Now... people can put one and one together and come up with six!!!! Coincidence? Only time will tell! We'll have to merely wait and see won't we?
I hope all you trainspotters enjoy Shadowmania... regardless of who is playing 'lead', kazoo, the triangle, vibraphone, whatever. I can't make it this time... but to whoever is going, turn the brain off, don't think too much, don't sit there like a coil on a spring waiting to analyze, comment, scrutinize or criticize... switch off, just listen to the music, absorb the atmosphere and ambience, and have a good time!
Enjoy!
:)

Bugger it Steve - you've taken all the fun out of it now.

Sorry you can't make it

Whoever it is I am looking forward to it as it will be my first time at a Shadowmania.
Perhaps I ought to bring my guitar just in case, problem is as I am new to playing guitar and so far can only manage Apache, how many times can I play just the one tune in a single evening.....
I am sure it will all go according to plan and everyone will have a great time with the music we all love.
Good luck to all

If you can do Apache, try Wonderful Land, Frightened City, Perfidia and Walk Don't Run.
