Both Daniel and Justin showed remakable maturity for their age by keeping it quiet that they would be playing lead as part of Bruce's Shadows at the last Shadowmania.
They must have wanted to "shout it from the rooftops", I know that I would!
They did a really first class job and made for an excellent evening.
Well done to both!
Pete.

The rumours were really amusing Bruce, someone saw a Helicopter over Lakeside on Saturday and thought it was Hank arriving!

And halfway through the gig as I was walking around from backstage during the interval, someone told me Hank had arrived in a white
Limo and walked into the club!!

Sightings of Hank are obviously developing along the lines of sightings of Elvis..

Great job by Danny and Justin...

But no "Shall we do it again Next year!!

Thanks Bruce for all your work over the years!! :)

Absolutely priceless Amanda. Even though everyone may have wished that Hank might turn up, it was, realistically, simply never ever going to happen. What brilliant remarks though!

Bravo to both of these talented youngsters - they were both magnificent and did Phil Kelly proud. Yes...it was very emotional because Phil wasn't able to be there because of health problems, which was yet another pressure to deal with. Justin has been one of Phil's proteges and I know that (along with many others) he's mentored Daniel too.

Rob :D

Really ? The nearest thing to mentoring Daniel that Phil Kelly did, was to meet him at Alan jackson's house a few years ago, before going on to a show - fact.

It would be really useful if everyone who posted could punctuate factual posts with the word "fact", just to make it clear what is, in fact, fact, rather than fiction. Thanks.

OK. Here are a couple of facts. It was me who saw the helicopter over the lake. And it was me who said "it must be Hank!". It was meant as a mildly amusing/ironic remark. The two lads sure did play out of their skins and it's hard to imagine that anyone (yes, ANYONE!!) could have done better. We should all be very proud of them. (Fact!!)
Love to all.

Hi Mart,

Well it certainly amused Bruce, he said at the time that Hank had left the UK recently.

It certainly means that the old "send 3s and 4d we're going to a dance" theory still holds true!!

It all adds to the fun!!

I only found out the Identity of the guitarists when I asked someone who the mystery guitarist
was and they said "He's just walked past you!" and I saw Daniel walking away from us so i guessed
then that the honours were being shared by Daniel and Justin.

I thought Daniel especially was brilliant, I didn't know he could sing, great set with the foot tappers and then the icing on th cake with Bruce, such a talent and he along with the rest of the foottappers were so polished and professional first class

Hi Dave,
Refs: Daniel / Justin / Phil Kelly - my apologies re: mentoring (cf Daniel) - I got my wires crossed there - an honest mistake Guv! So....I should imagine that you have encouraged Daniel & doubtless taught him a thing or two to boot - to say the least!! Well, anyway I'm sure Phil would've been proud of the pair of them & doubtless you are too. So (from me) - 'THANK YOU' to everyone (known and unknown) who has encouraged, supported & taught both of these fine (nay, outstanding) young guitarists. They were just unbelievably wonderful & a credit to themselves & all concerned with their respective upbringing and musical development. If there was ever any doubt.....they have 'arrived'. Best of luck to both of them in the future.

Rob :)

I'm not looking for credit Rob, just setting the record straight, to be fair Danny has done the hard work himself, we just gave him the opportunity to gain five years experience gigging in a working band, I may have shown him a few licks, but the credit goes to him for dedication and putting into practice what he has learned.
A couple of years ago we were in a sticky situation with drummers, as John Riley quit and we were only able to borrow John Firminger from The Cruisers when he was available and with Dave Eyre only being available at certain times, it looked like we were going to have to cancel gigs until Danny said that he would play drums. I told him to come round the studio for a knock and to basically see if he could play and was amazed that he picked it up so quickly, as he was only playing as a hobby at that point. OK he hasn't got the training in rudiments, but his musical brain and timing are exceptional and over the past couple of years has become first choice out of everyone else available when Dave Eyre can't play owing to work commitments. I use Danny as second lead guitar with me when Dave Eyre is available and he sometimes plays rhythm if Malc is missing and he can play bass too ! - an extraordinary talent and an asset to Past Masters, as he would be for anyone that he played for and since I realised that he was replacing Phil back in early August, I never doubted that he would deliver - yes I am proud of him, more than you can imagine, we all are !
