Justin Hayward view on last tour

Postby MikeAB » 01 Oct 2012, 13:50

Just read this on Justin Hayward's website - quite a compliment!

''I like Perth very much too, and this time Hank Marvin, his, wife and some friends came to one of the concerts we did there, and to say hello to me. I’m pleased to say I’ve known Hank, Bruce and Brian for a while now, and that night Hank and friends spent a lovely couple of hours in my dressing room after the Perth gig. It’s an absolute pleasure to be in his company - he is a truly great and unique guitar hero to all of us who grew up in England in the fifties and sixties. I saw The Shadows with Cliff recently and it was the best concert I’ve seen in years – maybe the best ever.''

I once auditioned for a band in which the rhythm guitarist said he had been to school with Justin Hayward's older brother ... and that even at the age of 14 or 15, Justin was able to play all the Shadows tunes note perfect!

A brilliant tribute there from Justin Hayward.

I saw the Moody Blues in concert in Nottingham in 1984. Brilliant band. I have often felt that Justin was influenced somewhat by Bruce's acoustic rhythm guitar work.

New comment from Justin Hayward on a Moodies fan site Q&A session:-

Q
If you could have your pick of all the best musicians in the world (excluding the ones you already have in the band), who would you wish to have in the fantasy band you would create?

A
I truly don’t know the answer to that. There are a few bands I would like to have been in – The Shadows, The Crickets, or playing acoustic guitar with Steely Dan.
