I beginning to believe that we only ever had one major recording artist/group and that was the Beatles, what happened to all the other successful artist ?

I suppose at the end of the day both groups are totally different, by the late 60's the Shadows were into variety wearing tuxedos and the Beatles were into psychedelic music (Pepper etc) so they were in different areas of music. I couldn't see the Beatles playing 'Talk of the town' and singing 'Helter Skelter!'.

You had me searching all over www.itv.com for that programme.

It turns out that it was on BBC1. And it will be soon be available at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01n6y59/1962_Love_Me_Do/

Here's an interesting article on the personal relations, influence, and mutual respect between the Shadows and the Beatles
