Sad loss of a great guitar player.
Bringing Warren's picture up-to-date, here's Big Jim with Brian and Brian in Old Compton St not long ago

This is a screen grab from my video of the unveiling of the plaque at the 2I's coffee bar in, I think, 2006.

Others in the picture include drummer Bobby Woodman (in blue, with cigarette) behind Brian B., Rick Richards (above and just to the right of Brian L), whose surname was 'borrowed' by Harry Webb when he was searching for a stage name. Bruce explains why the 's' was dropped in his autobiography. In front of Brian L (face obscured but you can see his forehead and hair) is Wee Willie Harris.

Just come across this... sad loss to British music , what a guitar legend. Big Jim and little Jim quite a formidible pair in the early 60's in session men. RIP Jim.

Without doubt, one of the greats. Very sorry to hear this news. One of my all time favourite guitar solos is on Dave Berry's 'My Baby Left Me' which I was told is played by Big Jim.

RIP Big Jim.

The word 'legend' is over-used, these days, but Big Jim was a legend.

He'll be missed - great musician.

Very sad news - I loved the music he played on the Gilbert O'Sullivan show in the '70s amongst others.

Such a great loss to the world of popular music but what a wonderful legacy.
May you rest in peace Jim and may you rock in heaven!
