Just played the theme to Space: 1999 on which I believe Jim plays lead guitar. He can also be seen in the episode 'Troubled Spirit' at the very beginning...

BJS's Peak Hour, the blistering B-Side of Krew Kats' Trambone was one of those instrumentals that inspired me to play this sort of music.

Very sad news - my condolences to his family and friends.

Of all the fantastic work & playing he did over the years, one of the tracks that has stayed etched in my mind since it first came out was his haunting solo on Dave Berry's 'Crying Game'.

Chas.

Very sad news. He did recording sessions with many French artists : Charles Aznavour, Serge Gainsbourg, Eddy Mitchell, etc.

I also love his guitar work on tracks by The Krew Kats and Brian's first two solo albums.

How sad, another one of heroes gone and what a great player he was. Here's one you may not have heard before - a single release from 1975 with a nice little twist at the end.

Very sad news and indeed he was a true legend of the guitar.
I will always remember his stunning perfomance with Doug Pruden
at the Tyneside Shadows Club in 2006.
Although I don't think he was in good health back then, he took time
to speak to everyone and answer questions on some of the sessions
etc that he could remember.
A true gentleman

Martin Payne wrote:Without doubt, one of the greats. Very sorry to hear this news. One of my all time favourite guitar solos is on Dave Berry's 'My Baby Left Me' which I was told is played by Big Jim.

RIP Big Jim.

I hope you don't mind being corrected Martin,
The solo on 'My Baby Left Me' was in fact Jimmy Page.
Big Jim Sullivan played the solo's on 'The Crying Game' & 'One Heart Between Two', using the DeArmond 610 pedal, which inspired HBM to buy one for himself to try. 8-)

I had forgotten that he was on Brian's first two solo albums. I have them both, on vinyl and CD, and shall make sure I play them both later.
