14th October is also the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings in 1066. (Actually it didn't take place IN Hastings, but a few miles down the coast at Battle. But it would have been silly to call it the Battle of Battle wouldn't it?)

Yes, I found out about Roger Moore's birthday just a few years ago. I was delighted to read about that, because he is one of my all favourite actors. I very much admire "The Saint", "The Persuaders!" and of course his seven James Bond 007 films. "Live And Let Die" was actually the first James Bond film I have ever seen and also the first time I saw Roger Moore on television. "Live And Let Die" of course has a more recent connection with The Shadows or rather Hank Marvin, regarding the title track.
I didn't know (but do now) that Justin Hayward was also born on October the 14th, also a great artist!

A belated "Happy Birthday" to Sir Cliff.

Thanks Donna, for putting those clips up.

I'm sure everyone watched and enjoyed them.

There was a "classic" clip in Get away with Cliff, part 3, of Hank conducting a flock of sheep, in the "ba, ba, ba, ba," bit of "In The Country"!!

I know a lot of these clips seem very dated now, but at the time they pulled in very big tv audiences, but never seem to get mentioned anywhere.

Hi, Tim. I remember the clip you mentioned...I had it bookmarked on my browser, so I thought I'd post it. You're so right -- the part with Hank conducting the sheep is an absolute classic. I think the first time I ever saw it I laughed really loud and my husband said something like, "What are you laughing at?" or "What's so funny?" I could barely speak..."Hank...sheep...In The Country..."

I never saw any of Cliff's shows when they were new, but I've been going back and watching them now, but truthfully it's so that I can see Hank. There's another funny clip that I want to post, but I cannot find it at the moment. Will post it later.

Hi. I found the other clip I was looking for -- it's from the "After Ten..." program. The middle section of the video is the part I like. The Shadows are pretending to have a songwriting session. And, as always, JimN was/is spot on when he mentioned the occasion of the Shadows playing Burns guitars but with Tony on drums -- the third section of the video features such a performance/miming.

The second video starts with Cliff and The Shads singing and dancing to "Friends"...with lyrics. The jazz dancing that you see in the still shot is after "Friends."
