The Shadows on Homes under the Hammer

Postby Syd62 » 15 Dec 2012, 00:11

Today I heard the Shadows Semi Detatched Surburban Mr. James being played on Homes under the Hammer though this was made in 2007, also as the item was coming to an end another snippet could be heard I think by The Shads but I didn't recognise it was only about 10 seconds worth it seemed to be the same era as Semi Detatched Surburban Mr. James. Anyone else hear it.

I didn't see the programme but someone on the BBC obviously knows something about the Shadows and their music. Wonder if a certain Mr. Purdon had a hand in the choice???

The second piece of music starts at 16:22 - it sounds uncannily similar to The Shadows' version of Semi-Detached Suburban Mr James in terms of instrumental and recording style, but it isn't a Shadows recording that I recognise.

Rob? George? Hoffers?

PS: The house was fully- and not semi-, detached.

I don't recognise the second piece, but agree that it does sound very Shadows-esque!!!

Surprised Mr. Martin hasn't jumped in with this one. It's a tune called Red Riverside Rock recorded by LegEnd on our In The Beginning album. Written by Warren. (As Capt. Mainwaring used to say...."Just waiting to see who would be the first to spot that one!") Love to all,
Mart.

I think David has answered a call from Sonny Barger. :D

He's on his bike.

Merry Christmas,
