That means he must be on the well-known EP:

STRAIGHT - NO STRINGS!
CRICKETS, The; 1962; EMI/Liberty (UK); LEP 2094 (mono)
1. Willie And The Hand Jive
2. Summertime Blues
1. Searchin'
2. What'd I Say?

Thanks for the info, Stuart.

I wonder whether he was on the "Bobby Vee Meets The Crickets" LP? There has long been conjecture on who "The Crickets" actually were around that time. Remember them recruiting UK drummer Don Groome for a British tour? He later played with the Innocents, including backing duties for Jet Harris post-Tony Meehan.

HI Jim

The only 'Cricket' on that album was Jerry Allison. Joe B was on the cover, but had left by then and Jerrry Naylor is on the pic but neither of them were on it. Sonny was in the army and Glen D Hardin had not been recruited by then. It is not Glen D on piano on Don't Ever Change or the follow up Little Hollywood Girl. I have a list somewhere with who is actually playing what but most of the guitar work is by Tommy Allsup. Glen is also singing harmony on Little Hollywood Girl. Who played what and when on those Liberty Tracks is a minefield!! It wasn't always JI on drums!!

It is all documented track by track exactly who played on ALL The Crickets Liberty tracks.

Recently discovered session files showed that Joe B did actually play on one track (I think it was The Girl Of My Best Friend) on the Vee Meets The Crickets album - but it is not clear if this was the released version of that track.

Basically whilst Sonny was in the army it was the "Liberty House Band" of Tommy Allsup, Red Callendar, etc, etc who played on their early Libertry tracks. The same line up, including Jerry Allison, who also played on most of the hits by Bobby Vee, Johnny Burnette, etc ........ all these Snuff Garrett produced Liberty hits.

Glen Campbell also played one of my favourite guitar solos of all time on I'm Not A Bad Guy the ''b' side (and far better side) of Don't Ever Change.

James Burton played on some later tracks with them as well - plus Leon Russell. Circa 1964.

If anyone want to know the specific muscians on a specific Crickets Liberty track I can answer here.

Yes, but strange that he had to perform high up on that platform and behind a fence!
