Cliff/Shads reissues on CD

Postby drakula63 » 21 Feb 2013, 17:09

Has anyone got this CD set yet? If so, what's the quality like? For the price it seems amazing value - unless of course the albums have simply been copied directly from old and scratched LPs!!!!! (And yes, stand up 'Me and My Shadows')

P.S. Only costs about a tenner from Leo's Den...

I know this stuff is out of copyright, who if anyone is buying these in a market that is saturated with
similar issues?
Fair enough if anything obscure or rare appears, but it just seems to be retreads of standard stock items
that we bought at the time or got on their first digital CD reissue.
One sleeve cover I noticed on a recent issue somewhere had Paul Mc Locking on l/hand bass such attention to
detail was commendable to the scanner operator!!!

Paul McLocking? Is he related to Licorice Cartney? :)

Seven albums for a tenner seems pretty good to me, especially if the quality is good. Obviously no-one here has got them (yet)...

Some of those reissues are quite nice, but only if you want to get to know The Shadows. As a longterm fan, I already have all official recordings, either or both on vinyl and CD. As cheap as they are, I can see no point in buying them, unless I wanted to collect every single unique compilation because of the artwork and/or unique track sequence. I would need a lot more money to buy them and another house to store them!

Hi Chris,
The quality of this set is fine, I could not detect any clicks or scratches. Apart from "Listen To Cliff" and "21 Today" the albums are in stereo. All singles except "I'm looking Out The Window" are in mono.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Ulrich
