I just saw this on YouTube. Haven't seen it before.

Sounds pretty good.

Sounds like the version he did with JP Danel a few years ago.

Sounds like the live version from the first tour with Brain with Warren on the snare drum.

Gary, I have just listened to the JP/Hank version from the Jazz Blues experience and the drumming is totally different. And the bass solo is very different
It is similar though.

This is indeed the studio recording made at studio 2 at Abbey Road Studios on the 17th of June, 1993, together with Mark Knopfler. The only ever release was on the 45 rpm single, the CD single and the cassette single "Wonderful Land". The CD single featured "Hot Rox" as the third track. "Wonderful Land" was also from the same recording session as "Nivram".

Hi,

Nivram just lends itself to any version and it always sounds great. We seldom hear the original version now but it's one of those tunes that just makes you want to jam and the audience always listens tapping and clapping. There are so many different takes, including the Shads versions over the years. I once heard it played in Goa by a three piece Jazz band (double bass) and as I recall it went on for about 20 minutes and the players enjoyed it as much as the audience. When asked they had never heard of the Shadows !
Way ahead of its time.

Regards, Luigi
