As far as I understand it there is no Lakeside event on the board - All they have done so far is poll previous attendees to see if it would be worth their while organising such an event . the conclusion remains to be seen.

The Shadowsfix event is something that is happening, and hopefully will be a successful one - my complaint here at the moment is:- The tickets went on sale on Sun 17th, and there was something of a cock-up with the Paypal payment situation, (not the organisations fault but paypals! we were told) - I did eventually manage to get my payment accepted after about 40 mins, but as yet, I still dont have a clue if I have tickets or not - It would be nice to be contacted one way or another . Either by tickets arriving on the doormat or a Paypal refund notification!!
Alan, I'm assuming you may be somehow involved with the organising of this event, can you possibly help please.

Hi Tony, as Iain has said, i'm not involved in the organisation but fully support the initiative. I've sent a message to Jayne and she'll get in touch and address your queries. There is a thread about Shadowfix and a page on facebook which in part answer some of the questions.

Finally, I have found it! Apologies for not getting back to you straight away Tony, but I see Amanda has assisted in my absence. :)

With regard to us sending out notifications, if memory serves me right, I don't recall ever getting notification from Lakeside for Shadowmania, just your money being taken from your method of payment followed by the arrival of tickets and a receipt a few weeks later. Anyone having booked with the likes of Ticketmaster will know that it's rare to get your tickets any sooner than the week before your booked event, quite why it takes that long when that's their sole business, I'll never understand. We're aiming to get them in the post at the beginning of May and I believe anyone having paid by Paypal will have a receipt of their transaction in an email from them. One of the reasons we wanted to use Paypal was because of that extra security, shame, as you say, they had a few hiccups on the day we opened! :?

I work full time, study part time for my Masters, and for some bizarre reason, spend almost all of my spare time trying to co-organise this event, giving many hours of my time for free and risking the possibility of being out of pocket too. As I'm sure you'll appreciate, we're not in any way trying to compete with the service offered by Lakeside, they have staff to run their box office for a start, we're just trying to get people together for a great weekend and doing so from our living rooms somewhere in between eating dinner and going to bed. If anyone with some spare time would like to offer to help us, that would be greatly appreciated, but as it is, there's just a few of us, doing what we can, when we can. Anyone with any questions, or indeed complaints, are more than welcome to use the contact form on the website. It's a bit impractical and time consuming for me to trawl through all of the threads on here on the off chance that someone asks a question and I'm grateful to those who messaged me yesterday to alert me to this post.

If I can help in anyway Tony, please, contact me, I'm here to help and very happy to do so. Anyone can email us at info@shadowsfix.co.uk and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. :)

Best wishes

Jayne

Hi All. Considering Jayne and the organising team are doing all they can to organise this event for no reward other than getting friends together for a great weekend of Shads/Instumental/vocal entertainment, unlike Lakeside/Shadowmania who have paid staff to 'make a profit'. We should all appreciate their efforts, and give consideration that this is their first event and 'blips' will possibly happen .

Hi Keith yes it's good that Jayne is organizing this new event, but do you really believe that Lakeside did not charge Bruce for the "hire" of Lakeside including all the staff? Or did he really get it as a "free of charge" event. I think that Lakeside made money from the drinks and meals that was sold on the Saturday which we paid for and rightly so. Why should Lakeside not "make a profit" is that not good buiness? Would you not sell or organize something for a profit, no matter how small, or would you really organize something to make a loss? I do not think that there are many people or companies that would do that.
This new event shads fans will go to and enjoy, we hope, Jayne has worked very hard and others, to get this event up and running.

I'm sure Bob Potter/Lakeside charged a fee for use of the venue because I remember one of Bruce's 'helpers' saying prices had gone up over previous years.

Lakeside is just a venue, albeit a nice one, and for me it was the biggest musical thrill to have played there last year with Legend, but I won't miss sitting stationary in a car for ages on the M25 trying to get to it.

Hats off to the organisers of Shadowsfix, an event put on by Shadows fans for Shadows fans, a passion we all share and not a money-making exercise like Lakeside are mooting for.

See you there
